With all the people furious about illegal immigration in the forums lately, it has crossed my mind it's not a good time to be a Mexican-American.
But is that really true?
Throughout American history there has always been a time period where it was worse to be certain race than usual. For example, it was a bad time to be Japanese after Pearl Harbor. Native American had a rough time after the discovery of the white man etc.

Without turning this into a hate-driven nonsensical racist argument, who do you think is the worst off in America today?

I have to take the blame for shit that other people's ancestors did 50-60 years before my familiy immigrated (legally) to this country. No one in my family has ever owned a slave or was ever in any position to hold anyone down, yet I get the blame for slavery and oppression prior to the civil rights movement (and after). Years ago, I took the preliminary LAPD test for entering the LAPD police academy.

The instructor seperated all of the people who passed the test into 3 groups, white, males, non-while males, and women.  The white male group, the LAPD guy said forget it, you won't make it.  The non-white males, maybe, and the women you've got it made.

And then there are the Middle Easterners.  They are working themselves up into being wiped off the face of the earth.  I mean, what do they think will happen once the soccer moms wake up to a major city having been dirty bombed by Islamofacists?  They'll quickly turn from "Peace, not war!" to "NUKE THOSE MF'rs!!!"  How will Middle Easterners do their Hage thing if Mecca is radioactive?  If they are being chased through the woods by mobs with torches and pitchforks?  It will not be pretty.

He found by intially studying "The Weakest Link" that old people and hispanics are actually the most discriminated against. It used to be black people and women, but thanks to the civil rights movement and feminism, people are not as willing to stick out their necks to discriminate against them for the fear of being viewed as intolerant.

The minority hierarchy...as I see it from the southern part of the country.  Note that this covers stereotypes, not individuals.  If you start taking people as individuals, any race based theory breaks down.

White - Self-explanatory.  Whites made the ladder and call the shots, so they get the top slot.

American Indian - It isn't true out west, but down here everyone is part Cherokee, so they are pretty much lumped in with whites.

Asians - Asians are almost-white, as in white people like them all and they are successful.  Only some of the older generation of others still dislike the Japanese, and sometimes don't discriminate.

-------The line between "effectively white" and "non-white" passes through the middle of the Hispanic category: Some Hispanics can achieve the same level as Asians, others fall lower on the ladder----------

Hispanics - Illegal immigration and the crap out in California aside, Hispanics are generally seen as people who "work hard" and "only fight their own kind"...apparently two valuable traits to have.  Plus there are a lot of them who are either born here and are well-integrated and successful or a lot who are actively trying to assimilate.  As a result, they rank pretty high.

Indian Indians - They are integrated and successful, but are distrusted for some reason.  Most likely it is because they speak with an accent that they can never get rid of, often get mistaken for Arabs, and some sort of poorly conceived "They took our jobs!" train of thought.  For whatever reason, people are wary around them.

Blacks - They've always occupied the bottom for a lot of reasons it is best not to get into.  You've probably heard them all and you can decide the merits of the arguments on your own.  It would take a book to discuss them all here.

Arabs/Iranians/Et al - They had been sliding downwards since the late 1970s and officially occupied the bottom of the hierarchy after September 11th.  Even the most worthless POS gangbanger can and does hate Arabs.
