This question has been swirling around in my head for a few days.  I met this new girl, 27, decent looking, and well educated.  She is a R/E attorney and makes roughly $150K a year.   I make about $100K, although I never recieved a degree ( working on it ).  What I'm trying to say is that it is almost an intimidating feeling.  I was just curoius who else has a significant other that is a big income earner, and do you feel the same?

Not now, but in about 6 years the answer will be yes.

When we first dated I was making a lot more than her.  In 2 years she was making way more.  She made so much more I am at home raising our 2 kids.  If you have a good relationship where you are partners then it's all good.

Back in the States, yes....cuz I'm a college student.

In Iraq, actually probably still yes.

Make more? Hell....I'd be happy if she got a job!

What difference does it make?  Her money is her money and my money is her money.

She makes slightly more than I do (and has a significantly higher take-home, because of a better state income tax situation, and a higher employer matching towards 403b).

It's never bothered me.

My plan all along was that she'd be very successful, and I'd mooch off her.

I wish my g/f made more than I do.  I could live my dream of not going to work and shooting damn near every day.

At the moment, no.  But when she graduates law school and starts her job in August, she'll make a little more than double what I do.  It doesn't bother me at all.  I call it "Operation:  Sugar Momma"

I make more than my wife and always have but she is catching up quickly and may pass me in few years unless I get back to travelling more but I'm not willing to sacrifice my time away from my son to make more money.

I hope my wife makes a lot more than me in few years...  so I can stay home and be a house husband and raise my son

No, she makes about half of what I make now.  I wish she made double what I make.

When we met, my wife was making almost double what I was. When we decided to have kids we were making the same and now she stays at home with the kids and I work.

She now works twice as hard as I do, but I am the only one bring in an income, so we still make the same

She doesnt' make more than me at the moment, but she once she builds up her clientele she should beat me by 50-100%.  I don't mind, I make good money and she knows I really want an M60.

In terms of actual "wage" monies, I earn slightly more than my g/f.

In terms of "other things" she blows me out of the water completely.   She's got family money in a trust, and apparently lots of it.   Her distribution when she turned 30 was high six figures.

My story exactly...but my wife has been out and working for about 4 years now.  Some look down on men that make less than their womenz.  Me, I could care less.  As long as she enjoys what she does, I don't care if she makes $100 or $100,000.  We still have a good relationship.  Whichever one of us makes more money is not going to hold it over the head of the other person and it's all OUR money anyway (meaning mutual decisions on purchases) so it's no biggie.

We both have excellent bonus systems at work, so some years she makes more than me, some years I do.

This year she won the friendly competition, but my company is having a record year so I think I may win next year.

My wife is handicapped.  She's a starving artist.  She doesn't bring in many $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I wish she did.  I'd retire and watch the world go by while playing with my toys/hobbies.

I think my wife earns around 3-4 times what I do.  I am not really sure of exact figure.  She has her own business and pays all the bills.  I go to work, may paycheck gets deposited into her account.

When I want something, I tell her 'gimme money' and she says ok.

It doesn't bother me.  Like I said I never really think about or notice until tax time when I sign the paperwork.

I do have to do all of the physical labor for company and hobbies (usually stuff like building barns or delivering or picking up equipment).  This seems fair, for most of it is more like fun to me.

When I was a poor, young, jarhead, my wife made at least triple what I made.  I thought she was rich.  I have made at least double her rate for quite a while.

Yes...almost 50% more now, though we started out about equal.  I did feel a bit odd when she passed me.  She chose a better employer than me in terms of salary potential.  It is OK with me now.  I am looking forward to retiring in about 5 years and playing with my toys.  She will need to work another 7 or 8 years while I play.  Well, I hope that plans works...

HAHAHAHAHA!!

Shit, I wish.

If she did,it wouldnt bother me in the slightest. If she made even close to what I did I'd be retired 10 years sooner.

Once she finishes up her Bacholer's degree in a few months, she will be making WAY more than me.

I don't care really, as we both choose our professions, and we both will be doing what we love to do. Better to get paid less and enjoy your work than work for you weekends and suffer.

It shouldn't make any difference if you are both doing honest work.   Life has ways of going back and forth with poverty & prosperity...

When we first got married my wife made more money and all our insurace and benefits came from her job too. But when we decided to have children. I knew I wanted her to be able to be a stay at home Mom. I worked to better myself until we could survive on my salary and benefits. Worked out very well. At this point in life we are pretty comfortable...
