I remember seeing a rifle/shotgun.  On top was I think the rifle which accepted AR magazines, and on the bottom was a 12 ga shotgun.  

I also remember it had a thumbhole type stock.

Nope, the Crossfire was originally designed as a semi auto.  US .gov would'nt let them release it as a semi during the AWB ban, since 12 gauge bore + no sporting use = destructive device.  The designers switched it to a pump action.  

Of course no one wanted to buy one.  CDNN finally disposed of the remaining inventory last year.
