If he's addicted to gay porn , I'd say hes gay. If it was a one time thing I wouldnt think much of it, but seeing as they had to lock down computers to keep him away from it, I'd say there isn't much chance its just a phase.

I have to say that I started looking at gay porn when I was around 14ish. Very similar situation actually, religious family, etc. They talked to me about it, and I denied it and was able to hide things for awhile (computer illiterate family). I didn't come out until I was 19ish.
The kid is probably gay, but he isn't going to come out until he is ready. After I did my relationship with my parents improved 100%, best thing I ever did. Just give him as much support as possible, and he will turn out OK. Being gay hasn't erased the values I was raised with. You can thank Enigma for showing me this thread too ;P |

At 16 he probably isn’t just "curious." He's gay; so what? Although the fact that he is obsessed with it is odd. I'm pretty sure the average homosexual is no more interested in porn than the average heterosexual. Any family that would disown their own child for this sort of thing has bad values no matter how religious. It is the ultimate failure of a parent when they disown their child for any reason.

If they try to suppress his access to the porn without talking to him, how long do they think it will be before he's sucking cocks through glory holes at adult book stores?
 They need to have a talk with him, the porn/sex addiction is clearly the bigger issue here (not the gayness). The gay shit might be part of a progression toward harder core stuff but I wouldn't bet on it. |

His parents need to be parents, and deal with this within their family. He is still their child. Sounds like a counseling candidate to me.  Eta: You know...You heard from a friend... Its entirely possible that you don't know the whole story here, and the parents MAY be handling it, just not talking about it to everybody...including a cousin who gossips to his friends... |

And internet or not, he WILL get his hands on some pron if he wants it. Taking away the internet is kind of a stupid gesture. What the kid needs is A) A little support and B) A understanding about stable relationships. If he goes secretive or underground about the whole affair, he's going to be in a tight situation. The happiest LGBT folks I know are the out ones. The closeted ones are miserable. - BG EDIT: A friend of mine in high school was gay. His parents ignored it and finally said that he was messed up and that he could either go to the prom with a girl or couldn't go at all. They also swore that they wouldn't pay for his college tuition if he didn't "straighten up." They got their wish. They don't have a gay son anymore. He killed himself late in his senior year in high school. But, comon. Being queer is a choice, remember?  They got their wish... |

I was addicted to porn at a very young age, 13, I looked at nearly everything, straight porn, gay porn, midget porn, etc. I was masturbating like 4 times a day.I thought that I was gay because I had never slept with a girl and was looking at gay porn, which really messed with my head. Well I learned that I wasnt gay, but instead I had an addiction to porn/sex, which is far worse. Well it was getting to the point where I didnt have a televsion, the computer was locked up at night, I didnt have easy access to a computer. But all that did was to make the addiction dormant. I would go for a few weeks/months or whatever without looking at porn, and then once I had easy access I would go nuts and not do anything productive.
Well fast forward 6 years. I still have an addiction to porn, but I do not even start looking at it. I know now that one boobie or twat will basically start this cycle of me looking at porn for hours on end. I was spirtually dead inside and miserable as a person. I no longer want to feel that way so 30 seconds of relief is not worth the feelings of guilt, shame, and remorse that would follow me around the rest of the day. If you would like me to talk to him I would be more than willing to. I dont know if I could help but I am willing to share my experience strength and hope. im me if you would like. James |

GAY, GAY, GAY. I doubt its some kind phase, hes gay. Not saying he should be disowned but the family should deal with it in their own way. A good religious leader can probably help. Because no matter how many times you say it, There is something wrong with being gay. Right I suck because I think its wrong to be gay. I never said anything about locking him up, or killing himself. When did this site and the country as a whole as a matter of fact become so complacent and non chalante. Just because I'm a christain man and do not believe in homosexuality, and feel as though his life style is wrong makes me a bad person. I think I even said more than once that if thats the way he wants to be let him. I would be concerned that a child of mine was addicted viewing pornography, whether it was gay or hetero. And yes I do have children. And I would never disown them for any reason, as no father should do ever. But why do I suck because I won't accept his beliefs as right. |

As for the porn, his parents can just work hard to keep him from getting to it. Do they have so much trouble controlling him that they can't restrict his internet access? Maybe I'm confused. |
