I'm attending some training for my company in California this week. A few of us are from out of state but the majority of the people are local. The company doing the training has a very nice on-campus cafeteria. Several of us were eating together and talking about current events. Iraq was mentioned and one of the local fellows at the table promptly came out of the closet as full goose bozo liberal. Or rather a "progressive" as he called himself.

I pretty much shut up and concentrated on shoveling food at that point. I was doing pretty good until he made the following comments. He said, "nothing peaceful has ever been accomplished by the use of guns and violence" and the way to deal with the "insurrgents in Iraq is through dialogue. Violence will never address their issues." When he finished I asked him two questions. I said, "Could you explain to me exactly how WWII was ended by meaningful dialog? And when do propose to have this dialogue with the insurrgents? Before or after they cut your head off?" One of the other guys actually shot soda out of his nose laughing. Mr. Progressive had no answer for me. He moved to another table. I think its going to be a long week.

Damn! That truth shit gets them every time.  You shouldnt have scared him off so quick.  You should have invited him to go shooting with your EBR's.  Tell him to meet you by the local school or something.

Maybe he should volunteer for the peace talks with AQ

I let them go, because they will hit that point sooner or later, and, then, I make them look pretty stupid.

If violence solves nothing and only meaningful dialogue will solve conflict, then why do the police shoot violent criminals instead of just talking them into giving up?

These little Commie @$$holes call themselves "progressive".  They mean to imply that they are smarter than everyone else.  Their ideas will "progress" the world into their little utopian dream of equality and happiness for all.

Damn I live a sheltered life.
Even though I spend most my days with union construction workers, they understand peace thru superior fire power.
Just don't include "W" int he coversation as they have been told that he is bad.
Everytime I get one in a one on one conversation they will agree about most things that  "W" has been doing. They are afraid of backlash if they speak out. Nice union, looking out for the betterment of the "worker"
The last one I encountered that towed the party line, He had pictures from newspapers of himself at anti bush rallies. He made the mistake of confronting me about my politics infront of a room full of his union buddies. I was prepared, I took him down the entire path from abortion to the warr on terror. This mixed included the 2000 election, Bush was illegal, to we didn't have the right to respond to 9/11. Because the President and the CIA lied.
He had baited me to be in front of "the men" trying to show them I was not there to look after them, ( I am a safety and Health professionial and have worked in this area for 12 years) almost all the men had worked with me before.
Now it was common knowledge that if you walk into my office you will here Rush, or Hanity, or Savage, or Ramsey. on the radio.
I don't push my side I am what I am.
Anywho back to the set up.
When I walked in he started in a loud voice so everyone could here with his rant, I looked at the room of thirty smiled, got a cup of coffee and sat down.
Him: George Bush is the best president ever?

Him: So you think the US should tell women that what goes on in their own bodies?
Me: At the present time US law cannot interfear with the taking of unborn life. however many state courts have ruled that during a criminal act, the killing of a fetus is the same as killing a child.

We went through a couple of minor subjects no win or lose there
Him: So unions should be abolished and everybody works for what they can get?
Me: No based on history un restrained companies will do everything they can do to drive costs down. Unions, some of them, have seen the future and started training their workforce  for the job market. They come to the job better trained. And I support that.
I come from a Union family so I can look at both sides.

Me: Ok 16 proposals from the UN were not enough. Where do we drwan the line?
Him: well we should have sent the inspectors back in.
Me: Oh yes send the UN back in, to show we are pissed off. The Un nis a corrupt anti US P.O.S. that don't care what we want or about our fears, as long as we pay the money so their "diplomats" can continue their lifestyle it is no problem.

Me: Some of you here have family members who have joined , they were not drafted. They chose this after 9/11 to defend what we live, I support them with everything I have, If I have to give up pay, so be it.

Two day later the "guys" told him to leave the jobs(revolt)

There is no chatting with a progressive/liberal.

It's getting more and more apparent that the country is splitting between 2 very distinct ideologies. There can be no agreement or common ground between the two other than "agreeing to disagree" on virtually everything.

I suppose this is particularly true for me since I am in CA.  I have given up trying to persuade many of the "progressives" that I am in regular contact with.  In fact, I have a rule of not discussing politics or even social issues with them whatsoever.  There is no way for them to even imagine what planet I am from and vice versa.

Thankfully, if the split deepens, most middle-of-the-roaders will likely side with the conservative/constitutionalist/libertarian side since it is far more grounded in common sense lol.
