THE New South Wales Government's failure to deal with gun crime meant Sydney could now be confused with the US city of Los Angeles, the opposition said.

Opposition police spokesman Mike Gallacher today said armed robberies, drive-by shootings and other gun crimes were occurring in Sydney on a daily basis.
"In the entire year of 2005 there were 14 drive-by shootings in that year. We've had 14 drive-by shootings in Sydney since the start of this year," Mr Gallacher said.

"The Labor Government has allowed crime to spiral to the point where it is now easy to confuse Sydney with downtown LA (Los Angeles)."

Mr Gallacher called on the Government to announce plans to tackle the problem.




 




"They were quick to react last week when a few yobbos, clowns at the football, got involved in a brawl. They were quick to call in the water cannons," he said.

"But on this issue they have been suspiciously silent.

"They have said absolutely nothing about what they intend to do."

They only have 14 days to a year there?
