Seems to me waving a Mexican flag sort of defeats the purpose of an immigration reform protest. I would have been much more supportive it they had been waving the stars and stripes.

Following the attacks of September 11th plenty of people were flying the stars and stripes. There were American flags flying from every second car on the road. I also noticed that there were a number of Mexican flags flying as well - like they were showing support for their troops or fallen citizens.
 Though I've seen similar national pride in Chicago from the Italians, Polish, and Germans but not in such numbers. History is full of such invasions of cultures and people - this invasion is just several times bigger due to the violations of our immigration laws. If you read history people were fearful and full of hate for the Irish, Chinese, and Polish in their times. The Mexicans are just the latest wave of immigrants coming here. |

You hit my button again! Illegal means against the law and should be punishible in courts. Enforce the law! If you lived here illegally and had a baby here, it is still illegal. Send the illegal people home and punish them so they won't do it illegally. What is up with security of the nation? Stop the illegals.

the difference there is that the goal of the irish, polish, italian, ect immigrants was to come to america to be american. it's very clear that this current wave of (mostly illegal) immigrants are comming here with no intention of being american. they want to import not only themselves, but their country as well. |

And what percentage of the total population did the immigrants represent? And how much did their assimilation into American culture cost the American taxpayer? Did they expect/demand/receive free healthcare, public funded education in their native tongue and bilingual signage and forms at every government office? And did they come legally or illegally? |

Lousy comparison. If it were Cinco de Mayo, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. Besides, I think most Irish people in the U.S. arrived legally. I've not heard of an Irish invasion (except maybe at the turn of the 20th century). |

This crap is enough to make ya puke. It's absolutely disgusting that law enforcement isn't out there in unprecedented force rounding up these scumbags and deporting them. And to top it off the mayor of LA is supporting them! Put that guy in jail for aiding and abetting. It's unbelievable how our government is ignoring immigration law. They should be out there deporting them at every opportunity, raiding construction sites, Mexican restaurants, rallies, etc.
Our country is going to be in a world of shit real quick if they pass any of this amnesty or "guest worker" bullshit. This truly is THE biggest issue facing our nation right now. Likely even more important than the war on terror. Whether or not we choose amnesty or deportation for all these illegals will mean the difference between America becoming a poverty-stricken, natural resource lacking, and overpopulated third world country, or a prosperous world power. Illegals are currently driving wages down in all sectors except upper level management and CEOs. With the surplus of labor, positions pay less, simple economics. Illegals don't take jobs Americans don't want, they steal jobs from Americans for lower wages. Just look at how many American construction workers have been displaced. My friend's wife is a latina, a Republican I might add who came here legally, and she talks about how the Mexicans she works with are constantly talking about how foolish Americans are and how easy it is to get everything for free here, and sadly it's true. Little do they know that she hates their leech mentalities and has called the INS on them. And to the people that say they're just immigrants like the rest of us.... Big difference. They came here ILLEGALLY. In the past immigrants would have to show their intentions and have an employer ready and a sponsor that had enough money to support you. Last, we've reached capacity now and don't need nor want massive amounts of people coming in. Round 'em UP! |

This is more than an immigration debate. It’s about turning our Nation into a socialist welfare state. You see the right side of the political spectrum standing up for illegals to gain Mexican and Latino votes, and you see the left standing up to help them get a socialist agenda established.
Right now we have no political leadership that will stand up to any of this. |

I got your homeland baby......I was raised about three miles from the San Jacinto Battleground. You know the place where Sam Houston and a few Texas boys, kicked Santa Anna's butt. After the battle, the troops wanted to hang Santa Anna, who had denounced the constitution in Mexico and delared himself dictator. They were a little upset over the Alamo..and wanted blood. But, Houston said no, and spared his life...in return for Santa Anna granting Texas its independence.
And there were numerous Mexican nationals who supported the Texas drive for independence...one key figure was Juan Seguin. And I also, believe the U S Army, Marines, and a few Texas Rangers kicked their butt again in 1846....this was an intersting conflict.....the US wanted California. The illegal issue is killing the communities in south Texas.......health care, EMS, social services, school districts, etc....cities cannot afford the non tax paying illegals. And, many in our business community do work the illegals....cheap labor. It will be interesting to see how the US works this little problem out. |
