I don't know why either.

And for some stupid, irrational reason I want one of those S&W .460s.  Impractical, nothing to shoot with it, ammo costs out the wazoo.  Why?   What would posses me?

+1.

I look at that and I see..."Wasted ammo money"

It has nothing to do with money. I don't own anything in .22, and that ugly little thing is chambered in .22 over .410

Wrap a bit of para cord around the barrel(s) and it'll look a lot better, I believe.

Okay, that's the barrels, now what about the rest of the gun?

I used to want one, and then I kept reading the negative reviews, even after the gun has been brought out by about 3 different manufacturers over the years.

If I had a boat or airplane, I'd get one. I might get one anyway, but after I get a good defensive shotgun and a larger-caliber pistol.

Not irrational at all.  You can shoot .454 and .45 Long Colt out of it too.  Ammo cost not a big issue.

is it single shot? if so, get a Thompson Contender with a .410 bbl as an extra bbl

I wouldn't try it with anything not rated for it, at least not .454 Casull. The pressure on that's really high.

GOD, don't give me another reason!  Please explain.  I've never bothered learning all of those legaleze ridden laws, I just stick with the blatently legal AR's.

ETA
I've got a Browning Buck Mark rifle for my .22.  Like the mount on top, real light, very reliable.

The nice thing about the 460 is you can shoot 45LC, 454 and 460 out of it and 460 is now were near as expensive as the 500 S&W.

i think your a little confused. the first poster is talking about the smith and wesson 460 Revolver, chambered for the .460 cartridge. this will also shoot the .45LC and .454 casull. he is not talking about the rifle posted at the top of this thread. i dont think you can shoot 45lc or 454 casull out of the .410 barrell on the above rifle.

edited to add: i REALLY want a .460 as well. i will have one eventually. although im buying it just to shoot 454 casull mostly. someone needs to make a .454 autloader so i can go around hunting vampires

oh yea, sorry for hte hijack.

something like this, BUT REAL.
