Scapled the lawn yesterday and discovered green grass. Aggggh. It's about to start all over again.

it never ends in FL... NEVER. it just slows down a bit in winter, but you need to mow the lawn and trim the bushes year round

All done. Just need to pick up some mulch.
I have a Mole and 2 cats to contend with. Need to start working on digging some holes.

Started three weeks ago. We have Zoyza grass so the dead needs to be cut off so it will not show. Already put down fertilizer and the grass has grown 1" already. About 3 weeks until another cut.

Yup, I started over a week ago on the 13th. We had a really nice 70 degree day and I took the day off from work to ride my bike and do some yard work.
I never got all my leaves raked up from last year and the backyard looked like shit. It was starting to get me down. So I raked up and I found all sorts of good things greening up and getting ready to bloom underneath all the litter.
I've got tulips coming up and daffs and Japanese iris and even day lilies are starting to green up. I felt a LOT better.
I get SADS during the Winter. I really need to see flowers in the Spring. I like doing a bit of gardening; planting some things and all. I've never really minded cutting the grass, either. In fact, I basically like working around the house. Man, I'm really glad I HAVE a house. You won't catch me bitching and moaning about the fact that it takes a little work.

I mowed the lawn for the first time since Christmas this past weekend. Lawn didnt' really need it but a few weeds and dandilions were getting a bit tall so I needed to trim it up a bit. So begins another season of cutting every week.

How do you loke the Zoyza grass? Is it as easy to maintain as they say it is?

Not yard work per se but I've been hoeing and tilling the ground in the back to get ready for planting. It's a bit early and usually I don't do this until april, but I just cleared a little piece of land and I had to dig up a number of stumps(ugh) and pull of hundreds of roots(double ugh) so I'll be lucky if I finish in time. I think this year it will be... watermelon, cucumber, green lima beans, sweetcorn and tomato. Also I have two grape vines, 3 apple trees and 3 pear trees. I'll have my hands full this spring but I can't wait to get working in the dirt. It just draws me somehow. When I'm not weeding or watering the food garden I'm growing small plants. Mostly herbs but I do like to grow certain flowers.

Yep yep, I can't wait till next month

Mowed for the 2nd time last weekend. Picked a bad day for it because the temp was only about 80F but the muggy factor was off the scale.

Yep I seeded a couple weeks back, mulched, bagged up some leaves and crap already. This weekend I'm going to clean the gutters.

3 weeks ago I mowed pretty low, dethatched the front yard with a rake (what a bitch), then mowed it again. Realized I was pulverizing the thatch into dust and not really mulching it, so I sucked it up with the blower.
Weeded & Feeded at that time, too.

I typically enjoy the first 3 or 4 mowing sessions of the Spring, but everything in Summer & Fall is toil.

Done weeks and weeks ago.

The garden is in and producing already - cilantro and green onions are ready and we had last Sunday's dinner with some of them. The flowers are planted and in bloom. The roses aren't blooming yet but the iris and other bulbs are in full bloom now.

Did some pruning. The grass dies back in the winter from the cold; between that and all the stinking deer I usually don't start mowing until May.

I've pruned apple trees, and have started pulling rocks from the garden. I'm mowing this weekend, followed by fertilizer and overseeding of my lawn. I'll also restart the back food plot with new clover and annual rye.
