Three Christian aid workers -- a Briton and two Canadians -- held hostage in Iraq for almost four months have been freed in a multinational military operation in Baghdad, UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said today. Freed were Briton Norman Kember and Canadians James Loney and Harmeet Singh Sooden. Their American colleague, Tom Fox, was found dead March 9 in western Baghdad.

This is interesting:

Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg, who publicly pleaded for Norman Kember's release in December, said he was "ecstatic" at the news.

"I am extremely pleased. I am very, very happy and hope to meet him soon after he gets back here," Begg told the UK's Press Association. "It is the best news to come out of Iraq in a long time."

In December, Abu Qatada, one of Britain's highest-profile international terror suspects, also issued a televised appeal for Kember's release.

Speaking in Arabic, Abu Qatada, described by intelligence agencies as Osama bin Laden's spiritual ambassador in Europe, spoke directly to the Swords of Righteousness Brigade. He was allowed to record the appeal inside Full Sutton maximum security jail, near York, northern England.

The difference is, the contractors are there helping, while the "peace activists" are there as traitors. I'm all for shooting traitors in time of war. You wanna protest for peace, do it in your home country. As far as I'm concerned the minute they went to Iraq they became combatants.
