If you thought the Drill instructors from THE BOYS IN COMPANY C and FULL METAL JACKET were pure fictions, this vivid documentary chronicling 12 weeks of basic training shows how true-to-life those loud-mouthed portrayls can be.

Nothing is as real as it can be in Marine bootcamp with the camera's on.

Heck for us it was even different when Senior was around.....

I'd venture to say the DIs have changed a teech from the 60s untill now

Granted, I wasn't a Marine, but, the stories from Army basic
then and now are pretty vastly different as I've gelaned from vets and my
experience.

I would venture to say that Basic then and now is different....Down to the DIs.

If it's just the MOUTH....well, crap, I got a more foul mouthed DS than
Ermy by about a billion percent in '93 at Ft. Knox

+1

Drill Instructor Sergeant Stringert just never was as mean when Daddy was around, but when he has us alone...

The film remains defiantly objective, intent on allowing viewers to enter this secret world and form their own opinion.

Nobody who hasn't sweated, pushed, shot, eaten, scrubbed, run and humped it for themselves has an opinion worth more than a cup of warm spit.

Thank you sir. You don't get to form an opinion of sand fleas biting you in the crack of your ass while standing at the position of attention by watching it on camera.

Hell yeah! When The Senior was around, you knew you were going to a least not get fucked with as much as when the Heavy was around. But then, if the whole platoon was in the squad bay, the Senior wasn't there, and the Juniors had some time to kill....let the games begin! "I've got more games than Milton Bradley, 1080!" I can still hear Sgt. Perrine saying that shit. Good times!

I received a Copy of the DVD a few days ago and watched it a few times it is pretty good I like it.  Pretty much it is set up by week.  There is no narration or any interviews during the whole 95 mins.  One disappointing thing about it was that the speech my R Lee Ermy was not on the DVD as were a few scenes that were in the previews.  I think the $25.00 was well spent.
