Again, not counting Jeep, here's your chance to admit you owned a Pacer, Gremlin or Rambler. A Matador, Eagle or Hornet. A Javaline or AMX. Even a Nash or Metropolitan
What did you own, when did you buy it, how did you like it?

I never owned one but my aunt got a new Gremlin for her High School graduation and my sister owned a Matador.

My dad used to own a Hornet when I was a kid. Cool car if you could get past the loooks of it.

A Javelin, My best bud owned a Hornet, which I worked on a fair bit. Another good friend always owned AMC's. Not bad cars at all.

They would utilize major assemblys from other mfg's. For instance, my Javelin had a torqueflite tranny, made by Chrysler.

In 1976 my cousin purchased his first car... a used 1972 Gremlin in green. That car lasted one summer

I had a `69 AMX for about a week. I got it in a package deal, and sold it as soon as I could. Not because it was a POS, just because I was not an AMC fan and wanted to get some of my money freed up from the deal. The guy that bought it restored it and still owns it.

In high school I had a friend who had an 69' AMX 4 speed with no back seat.
That thing was small, light and DEMON fast.
Had a friend in San Diego that bought a Pacer V-8.
That thing was small, dorky and not fast.
Can't remember if he ordered the Levi's interior

I remeber my parents having a AMC Eagle....car....truck thing

It was so bad. In maroon none the less. When I was about 12, my older brother bought a brown gremlin to deliver pizza in. That piece of shit never left my backyard for about a year

I use to shoot at it with my BB gun.

I sold new AMC products. The original AMX was a fast ride, had a tricked out tranny and a HO 360 CID motor.

Pacers were, well, ummmmm, eclectic.

CJ7, Eagle, 3 Javlins, 69 Embassador 2dr, 65 marlin (327 v8) and I was president of the t. Louis AMC club one year. I LOVE RAMBLERS!!!!

my first car was a 1974 AMC Ambassador stationwagon, yellow with woodgrain panels. for a highschool with alot of friends it was the best car ever, took a beating that would have killed Godzilla and came back for more, until I left the transmission laying in the middle of the road.

My parents had a '74 AMC Hornet . It lasted til 1984 when my dad totaled it by hitting a raised sewer cap on a partially paved road.

Interestingly enough the '74 Hornet even in the same Orange color we had it was featured in a car chase in the James Bond film "Man with the Golden Gun"

My favorite muscle car is the 1969 AMX with a 401 4 speed.

I learned to drive on a 1973 dark-green Gremlin with the strait-6 engine and 3-speed manual trans. It was then my sometimes high school and college car. It was big enough to move in and out of the dorms with. My parents kept that car on the road until late 1986.

I recall at one point in high school my parents were trapped one morning in between snow piles at the end of the driveway, caught on the ridge left by the snowplow. They could not get out of the car, even thru the windows, the snow was so high. They were pissed!

My first car was a 1975 AMC Hornet. My mom passed it on to me when I was a junior in high school. The engine had a charming habit of simply cutting out for no apparent reason; you'd be driving down the highway at 60 mph, and suddenly the engine would just shut off. Shift into neutral, crank it over, and you're on your way again.

Parents had Eagle 4wd 4dr sedan & station wagon. Sedan was fulltime 4x4, wagon could be shifted into 2wd. Both had the 258 L6 & automatic. I'd like to find one in good shape for a winter car.

Great grandfather had a Nash Rambler....'54 or so I think. Still in the family & runs.

Best friend from HS dad had a 1968 Javelin SST (343 V8, 4spd).
His mom drove a Concorde 4dr sedan (he inherited it when he turned 16). Hella stout little car (again with the 258 L6). His family was AMC fanatics & had many others before I met him.

The girlfriend of another HS best friend drove a Spirit. Her family had two almost identical Spirits, one with a 4spd & one with a 3spd. Both lemon yellow.

A neighbor kid had a '73 Javelin when I was in HS. Gawd aweful orange & white.

Cool looking car other than the color. The '71-74 weren't as clean looking as the '68-70 IMHO.

Girl I was sweet on in Jr High/HS drove a Pacer (inherited family car) for a while.

I once had a 4-door '75 Matador. It had a Ford carb and a Mopar tranny. The handling was surprisingly good, almost neutral but there wasn't quite enough torque to get much throttle induced oversteer. The engine was soft on the low end like a Cleveland but the top end wasn't very good. Ride was good. The best part was the seats - deep, comfortable, and supportive. I would buy another if circumstances permit.

On the whole, it was better than a Chevy.
