Anyone shoot one of these? I think the cool factor is balls to the wall, but I'm buying something for practical defense. I've never been fortunate to try one on the range. Any input from the ARFCOM wealth of knowledge... or bs, whichever is logged on first?

Depending on the pistol grip in can be painful.

I have a 12" Remington 870 (class3) with pistol grip and I love it. You will always be more accurated with a full stock, but the short ones are cool.

Also, keep your wrist from moving when firing. The recoil moving the wrist in the wrong direction is usually what hurts you, trust me.

I got a Mossy Persuader with the pistol grip, not fun. If you want a PG definitely look at www.knoxx.com, they have an entry version that should make it much more pleasant to shoot.

I have a Rem 870 with them. Love it. I suggest getting a top-folding stock. This way if you want one.....you can also get a shot carrier for the bottom. Dont shoot slugs if you're using pistol grips, wont hurt your wrist/arm but more of your lip when it comes up and hits you.

I use mine for hunting, shooting skeet, pretty much anything. (if you have strong arms, you can shoot it like a pistol, single handed if your good

)

When I had a stock on my shorty 870 (12" barrel) I used to shoot skeet with it, and or anything that flew.

I've shot one, it was pretty fun, no pain at all. Just keep it to your side ad let the recoil move your arm, do not fight it at all. I was 13 at the time, there was no pain at all. (And yes, it was a full size 12g.)

There must be A LOT of GIRLY MEN here!!!

I shoot my 16" Mossberg 12 Gauge pistol grip all the time. I run 00 buck and Slugs thru it. No problem, really.

It is all in how you support it. Hold by the pump, not grip if you know what i mean. In other words, you support it with the pistol grip, but take up the recoil with your hand that is holding the pump.

This is not only a cool Shotty, but very fun also!!!

It is sitting beside my bed right now, I belive it to be a great home defense weapon.

Get one and enjoy. If you can't figure out how to shoot it with out hurting, find someone who can, maybe they can give you better pointers.

I have owned 2- 12guage and 1- 20 guage (Mossys)and the 12's with 000 buck and slugs kick the shit out of your wrist. All 3 of mine where pistol grip only with regulare forearms. They are fun as hell to shoot. I really had no place to shoot them anymore and sold them. You need like a plinking area and I don't have that anymore. They are reasonably priced.

Benelli M1 tactical model with pistol grip. I wouldnt shoot a this shotgun without one. Its awesome and fast.

If all you're interested in is looking cool, pistol grips are fine. The only other justiable use for a pistol-grip-only shotgun, are those used only for breaching doors. If this is their only use, there is no need for the extra length of the shoulder stock.

If you're interested in fast, accurate and effective shooting, you'll use a gun with a shoulder stock, and shoot it from the shoulder.

My grandfather broke his nose with the shotgun I posted. He has a brief moment of stupidity, got a good cheeckweld, and shot it like a rifle. That buckshot he was shooting sure messed him up good.

With practice and the right grip, shooting a pistol grip shotgun with accuracy is neither painful or difficult.

I've heard stories about the ARFCOM member who asked a guy if he could try his out at the range. Guy said sure, loaded three rounds into it, and handed it to him.

First two rounds were birdshot, nothing spectacular.

Third round was a 3" magnum slug.

Yeah, I agree. My buddy wanted to shoot my M590A1 (equipped w/ a pistol grip). He fired about 40 shells of 00 buck. Then he said he was going to "aim" using the bead, I shouted NO!! as he squeezed the trigger and damn near knocked out his 2 front teeth

FOOL!!

Now we laugh about it

I love my shotgun, the pistol grip has never hurt my wrist.

I do that all the time with my Marlin 45-70. When I let someone new shoot it, the first round I put in the tube is one of my exceptionally stout handloads, the rest are off the shelf loads. The look on their face when they go from shooting the factory rounds to my handloaded one is priceless

Pull forward with your left hand, and back towars yourself with your right hand on the pistol grip. Aim as normal. When you fire it will pivot down and back. No pain. Let it do it's thing.

Here's one of mine, I have three pistol grip shotguns.
Recoil is not a factor because if I need one of these the SHTF.

have you guys seen the new Hogue grips that are rubber?...i handled a twelve inch 12 guage that had these rubber pistol grip and forearm grip.....can you say uuuuhhhhhhh
