DARTMOUTH, N.S. - Decommissioned Canadian navy submarines are going cheap.
For just $4, a Quebec museum has purchased one of the Oberon-class subs sitting dockside in Dartmouth.

The Musee de la Mer de Pointe-au-Pere near Rimouski, Que., paid the $4 - plus tax - in October.

HMCS Onondaga will be towed out of port this summer to its new home.

It's slated to open to the public June 1, 2007.

Annemarie Bourassa, assistant director of the museum, says they think the sub will be a big draw.

Keep in mind, that's four dollars Canadian.

Damn, I would buy a submarine for US$0.16 + tax!

Of course, in this case, the 'tax' is probably going to be something along the lines of $20 billion.

Another case of journalistic retardedness. The photo shows an Upholder class diesel boat.

I've always wanted to say journalistic retardedness.

No wonder the Canadians want to sell their subs, they put the sonodome on the wrong side of the boat.

Give it a year or two. The Canadians last I checked had announced that they were going to retire their Leopards and go with MGS-like vehicles.

Alot of them are ex, HMS boats and are the suck.  The same people that made the electrics for the Jags made them for the subs.  You wonder why they catch on fire.  What the should do is suck it up and order a couple of New boats from Newport News.  Our guys get work and their navy gets real working subs.
