CavVets comments got me thinking. If I could have a slave legally would I want one too? I guess I would be definitely tempted especially if it was more like in the Roman times where they could become citizens.
Its morally wrong, but what if it was the norm? I could always use someone to pick up after me, especially if she had nice boobies. ETA: Someones |

I make my own. In two more years my son will be old enough to cut the grass while I sit on the porch sipping mint julips.
that's why I had 3 sons
them suckers are loading up a trailer right now for a trip to the dump |
Morally wrong.
Most despicable thing the human race has ever involved itself in. Of course some of the asshats here think going out to eat is buying a slave, albeit for limited duration, and they don't want to pay for them. |

Hard to say, its so fucking taboo now, your immediate response is ACK! NO.
I'd have an indentured servant to clean my house :B |
Cheap labor. Actually quite expensive. About $200k each until they turn 18. |
Yes. It's called having children. |
No way.
By the way, disregard the moral factors. If society did allow slave ovnership, would it be mine for life, or could I just let my slave go some day. Really makes a difference in profitability. If I can just use my slave and then turn the slave out when I no longer need the labor, that might be a really good deal for me. Just dump the cost of them on society when I am finished with them. But if I am responsible for my slave until my slave dies, then that is one big economic drag. I will end up running an old folks home for my slaves when they are too tired, old or injured to work. |
That depends on what kind of slave. Labor slave? Hell no. Sex slave? Well...
I forgot the add, the kids are not slaves. It is more like an intern program. No pay, lots of hard work, and a good learning experience for them in the process.
No matter what your sex slave says, she will eventually fall in love and want to get married. Then who will be the slave? |
I bet LT would have at least 4 or 5 with big boobies.
ETA: Well at least 1or 2, considering his unstable employment situation. |
I don't follow... isn't that what marriage is? Only it's me that becomes the slave .
10-4 on that PBIR.........I have 3 girls and a boy.......pretty soon, my wife will never have to do housework, and I'll never have to cut the grass or clean the pool or trim the hedges, or rake the leaves.....etc....you get the picture |
No. Since they would be a capital investment (capable of being bought and sold...has monetary value) you'd have to make the same kind of maintenance investements that you do with any other property. That is, you'd have to feed them, make sure that they are healthy -- medical, dental, etc. If they are sick, etc., then they are of no value to you.
Having a horse might be a good example. Besides that, you have to put up with all of their problems, etc., and have to supervise them more than you would a worker who is working for money. It's just not worth it. It is more economical just to hire people to do your odd jobs. Slave owners prior to the Civil War had the same problems. |
Yes.
Before anyone asks, there are pics of my slave already posted somewhere in Team Forum. |
If it wasn't for John Deere cotton picker, I would need a couple dozen. And if fuel gets any high, I may trade John Deeres even.
even if you bought a slave, it would not be free labor. you would be wholly responsible for the care and welfare of the slave. you might not have to pay him/her a wage per-se, but you would still need to feed, clothe and shelter him/her. It would probably come out to the same $$ if you hired someone at minimum wage to work for you.
She would have to be 18, Asian, and know when to keep her mouth shut.

You're the man. WTF is a mint julip? Are they good? |
Talk about slavery and everybody focuses upon it's effect on the enslaved. But the reality is that slavery is worse for the master than it is for the slave. Slavery in the United States was an unmitigated disaster. There has been nothing in our history that has done more damage to our country.

My initial response would be,"Of course not!" Then i remember I Dream of Geanie.....

It's a bourbon drink w/ muddled fresh mint and sugar cubes + some water. They make summer feel goooooood. |

Slavery is one of the greatest abominations ever imposed upon man by his fellow man.
Why would you do that to bourbon? That's worse than a Manhattan. Actually, it sounds good. I have some Maker's Mark lying around, so maybe I'll try one. |

Are we talking slave as in A.N. Roquelaure Sleeping Beauty Novels type slave?? If so yes.. Hell yes..
Ooops, sorry. I'm against slavery, too, then. (I thought we were just talking about chicks.) |
nah, too mush trouble financially.
you got to feed 'em and keep 'em healthy. also, I would rather do it myself. but if R2D2 were real.......hmmm |
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cavvet's a filthy white-supremicist...
I would let them work off their costs at a good market rate and free them. Technological advantages really mitigate the need for manual labor thus slavery does not really pay dividends.
My wife and I feel like a slave since my little boy came along.
Not that we're complaining so anything |
I took my girlfriend shooting for the first time this week and she loved it! She also said she'd be happy to load mags for me while I'm shooting! |
If he was a really hot redhead. Oh, you didn't mean that sort of slave did you?
No. |
18!!!!!...try 22+ and add another $200,000 in just those 4 years...multiply by 3......ahhhhhh WBK |

[nelson] HA HA! [/nelson] Are you in for a significant surprise! |
It is actually quite a bit higher. Even at very low living standards. And that is why slavery was a doomed institution regardless of politics. |
No I won't join the democrat party. |
