My window is up, and I can hear what sounds like either a jackhammer on steel plates, or a machine gun or two with very large ammo capabilities. It might be Fort Jackson, because it sounds a long way off, but the Fort should be too far for the noise to carry. I've never heard anything like it.

So what's wrong with a little beautiful music to fill the background?

Well, I live downtown.

Sounds like the south side of town, but I have some buildings around--could be reflected from a lot of places.

Update: coming from Northeast side of town. Sounds like 2-5 km. Called 911, they don't have any calls. At least 2-3 full autos, if that's what they are. Heard what sounded like one shotgun blast.

Be sure to keep us updated.  I heard what sounded like a large explosion followed by two gun shots not far from my house a few nights ago.   Nothing ever came of it.

Fort Jackson is too far away. I am not 100% sure it's gunfire, but I can't imagine anything else that loud.

Well, it must be some kind of jackhammer, maybe a night road crew on that side of town. If it were weapons fire, there would be helicopters.

^^Hahahaha, So yeah I heard what I think are gun shots so I log on AR15.com and post about it, maybe someone here knows who is shooting or can somehow be able to tell me what exactly it is I'm hearing.  I think I will post a few more times then call the police... Damn I should have turned off the TV before I went to bed, My bad

I heard a helicopter; if there were really people shooting, there would be more.

Well, I guess it was some kind of industrial/road construction noise, but I never heard anything like it. Like two or three giant jackhammers going at once, intermittently.

It is not that hard to convert a semi-auto gun into a full-auto, all you have to is just "file down the sear a little."

'Guess you never heard an excavator with a hydraulic breaker attachment huh ?

Commonly used in rock demolition. It's just a huge jackhammer that is put in place of the digging bucket and runs off the excavators auxillary hydraulics.

Sheesh...  I though I was paranoid.
