My friend is currently the victim of a DOS attack. It's not really clear why, but none the less they have no internet access! They use an ISDN line if I remember correctly. Is there anyway to stop the attack? I know Arfcom gets attacked every so often, so what is done about it when it happens?

shut down pc.

D/L free firewall (on different pc, of course)

Save it on media.

Turn on pc.

Install firewall

Connect to DSL

Only allow programs that you are using to access, DO NOT just allow any program to access that is on your pc.  Person may have an installed hostile program that they do not know about that is giving up control to remote host.
