Looking towards the future lads.  Where is, "The Utopian State", for a family of multiple AR owners?

Yes, a family of AR owners. Three generations. Many members.  Many AR's.

Does such a place exist?  Friendly mid-sized town, affordable housing, honest people, open spaces, reasonable political views, outstanding places to shoot?  A place where folks fear God and respect the Flag.  Can we still say God and Flag in the same sentence?

I'd like to hear what you all have to say.

Maybe I was in the military too long and I am just closed minded.  Maybe I've been a Cop too long and I am just too conservative.  Maybe I'm all wrong and I need to change my views and embrace the change and the new culture with the METH HEADS, nut balls, fruit cakes, gang bangers, perverts, mopes and other shit for brain types having a ball at the expense of everybody else.

Maybe.  Maybe not.

Does anybody really care anymore?  Is anyone minding the Barn door?  Has everyone left to go to "The Party".

I'd like to believe that there is something better somewhere out there for a family of AR owners.

This is specific to living in a great place and owning AR's.  It could be it's a horse shit question with no answer.  I don't know.  I can tell you this, I'm sick of dope dealers, gang bangers, thieves, liars, flag burners, baggy pants punks and selfish me-me-mine anti-American socialistic, ass wipe politicians that don't believe in God or Country.

Could be the double shift got to me and I'll be all right later.  I don't think that's the real issue though.  I think this rant is an honest question for information regarding a new place to park the truck, raise the flag, hang the hat and bolt my safe to the deck.

Let it rip fellas.  Speaking for my entire family, we're all ears.

Sounds like we would need to build a town like that.

Lets find a place that
1 Moderate weather, summer highs that don't get over 90. Winter lows that don't go below 10
2 Good amount of rain, Don't want to have rocks & dirt for a front yard.
3 Different kind of terrain. Nothing so flat you can watch your dog run away for 2 days.

I think the rest we could build

Nampa has a God and Country rally every June. Small town parades all around the state. Rodeos, machine guns, and the largest wilderness primitive area in the lower 48. Try Idaho and help us displace some libs.

The family looked at houses and vacationed there last summer. Took the boys to a mountain stream, crystal clear, trout. We swam, built rock dams, and the kids chased fish with nets all day(none ever caught, seems the fish have played this game before). At the end of the day, 8 yr old looks at the wife and I and says, "this is the best vacation I ever had".

That covers a lot of ground.

OK, everyone.  Let's get specific.  Share your experiences.

In the mean time I will share this letter I recieved today from a partner of mine in Arizona.

A friend's unit is on a temporary assignment for some specific inter-service training at an AFB in Arizona prior to re-deploying to Iraq.  A citizen with nothing better to do complained about a single one minute long occurance causing him personal unhappiness.  Boo Hoo.  Me-me-me-mine-mine.  I'll let you judge where the guy's head was at.  What's with some people?

*A wake-up call from Luke AFB, Arizona:*

*A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. JK
*

*Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the local
paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the
mall.  When that individual read the response from a Luke AFB officer, it
must have stung quite a bit.**
**
The complaint:**
**
"Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base: Whom do we thank for the
morning air show?**
**
Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 a.m., a tight formation of four F-16 jets
made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at
approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune!**
**
Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they
trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns' e! arly-bird special?**
**
Any response would be appreciated."**
**
The response:**
**
Regarding "A wake-up call from Luke's jets" (Letters, Thursday): On ! June
15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four-ship flyby of F-16s from
the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt
Jeremy Fresques.**
**
Capt. Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed at Luke
Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.**
**
At 9 a.m.! on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland Memorial
Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and friend.**
**
Based on the letter writer's recount of the flyby, and because of the jet
noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, or
my words to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques as I gave them their
son's flag on behalf of the President of the United States and all those
veterans and servicemen and women who understand the sacrifices they have
endured.**
**
A four-ship flyby is a display of respect the Air Force pays to those who
give their lives in defense of freedom. We are professional aviators and
take our jobs seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was
four officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.**
**
The letter writer asks, "Whom do we thank for the morning air show?"**
**
The 56th Fighter Wing will call for you, and forward your thanks to the
widow and parents of Capt. Fresques, and thank them for you, for it was in
their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable formation of their lives.
*
*Lt. Col. Scott Pleus
CO 63rd Fighter Squadron**

I love New Hampshire.  I'm in the middle western part of the state along the VT border.  NH has been selected as the "free state project"  so I'm hoping the counters the Kennedy lovers from Mass that are moving up.    Has everything that you could want.  Only down fall is that if you dont like the winters/cold/snow that you are screwed 5-6 months outta the year.

It's pretty damn nice. Lake is crystal clear and we swim in it often during the summer.

Best part for me is all the National Forest. 80-90% of the land in my area is National Forest. I roam about it almost daily. Just awesome.

The only bitch I have are all the Chicago FIBs(Fucking Illinois Bastards) whom we mostly all despise as they swarm the area like cockroaches in the summer.  I would like a minimum of 40acres abutting the National Forest so I don't have to restrain myself from kicking their ass all the time. But other than that....yeah, it is God's country and I am a lucky man. I should count my bleesings more often for sure.

Keep the suggestions coming.  Try to suggest a specific area or better yet a town when endorsing a place you feel good about.  If possible post pictures if you can.  Pictures are very helpful.  If nothing else we are all saving gas money for the time being.   This summer I'm going on a road trip to scout out at least three places across the US.

My brothers are watching the gun safe not my truck.  They know if I unbolt the safe during the night that I ain't coming back.  Ha.

There was alot of ooowing and aaahing by several of my family members at your pics drjarhead.  Thanks again.  Sometimes a picture is worth a 1000 words.

Also look at the US census for where to live if you want to avoid certian "types" of people. It will also tell you where the crime is bad and population density. Also projected population growth. Good info.

I live between Tulsa & Bartlesville. Nice part of the state.
Oklahoma is VERY gun friendly. Hell, Oklahoma is friendly, period. I meet a lotta folks from outta state and they almost always comment on how friendly Oklahomans are.

Tulsa isn't without it's problems though, but there's a concerted effort being made by the residents and city government to fix the problems. Don't limit yourself to Tulsa though. Bartlesville is smaller but just as nice and there's a lot of smaller communities (former oil towns and farming communities) within commuting distance.

Idaho 20 years ago. We have turned to shit, There moving here so fast you wont recongnize this state in 10 years. Why oh fucking why does everybody think this fucking state is some kind of fucking utopia promised land. 60% of the land is owned by the gov so whats left is getting expensive. Why is wilderness such a good thing?

You guys are all giving us something to think about.  Everywhere is changing and not always for the better.  Too much crap going on here, I can tell you that.  If assholes could fly this place would be the biggest airport in the damn world.

Nevada 20 years ago was a playground.  10 years ago serious greed took hold and then things really started changing.  The fuckin' monkeys are driving the bus now.  The land grab has reached blow out status.  No one has kept track.  The libs are here now and want to "help fix our problems".  You know what that means, they want more CONTROL.  Rant, rant, rant.  Sorry.

You guys have provided some really good ideas and we are checking them out, one by one.  Thanks.

Just moved to north Idaho (near Coeur d' Alene) from Georgia 5 mos ago and love it here.

Almost everyone CCW it seems and very low crime. Great views, too.

CCW is only a no-no in established townships or mining camps here so I know of pleanty of people who don't bother getting a permit to carry. Also, IIRC concealed carry is only a misdermenor here, have to check though.

Alaska - no permits needed for CCW
Wyoming - getting that way soon

If you want a midsize, conservative town, with a low cost of living, that is gun friendly I would look at any of the little towns surrounding Lubbock.  I go to school in Lubbock and though it wouldnt be my first choice becuase of the scenery is not that pretty until you get to Palo Duro Canyon you can pretty much do anything out here. The people are very friendly though they do not seem to concerned with what you are doing.  I know for a fact that Lubbock is currently hiring police officers.

The town of Lubbock is currently right around 220,000 people, though there are many smaller neighboring towns that only have a population of about 5,000. I would love to get some land in anyone of the canyons around Lubbock, they are very beautiful, for west Texas. Plus if you live out in one of the canyons you can shoot at 300+ yard distances just out your backdoor.

People always seem to be praising God and talking about him, which I find a little unusual since I have always lived in big cities where that kind of speech is not very common. I find it settling that most everyone in town is as you put it, God Fearing.

I wish you the best of luck in your sure and do not give up looking if you are not happy with your current circumstances. If you are ever visiting the area let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you out.

Darn decent folks for the most part, here at AR15.com.  We have met, made friends with and gone hunting, camping and shooting with alot of guys we met here on the boards.

We have done literally thousands of dollars of business with quite a few AR15.com members that I have never even met in person and to this day we have never, not even once had a problem, personal, product, money or otherwise.  Not once.  Amazing.  If only the rest of the world subscribed to such standards.

I read a lot of the posts and realize that not everyone loves everyone.  No. it's not a love fest.  But I think if we all stopped and took a moment we would admit that for the most part this is pretty damn good group of folks here at AR15.com.  I don't mean to gush all over the place but I am very grateful that we have the AR15.com web site to use as a medium.

I feel better having read everything that has been posted so far.  We have discovered some really interesting things thanks to some of the suggestions.  Actually hoping to hear and see some more.

In the mean time one of my Brother's discovered a very interesting web site I thought I would share with you all.  I'm not sure how to hot link it so please cut and paste.  See below.  Thanks again,  Dan.

If I were alone, I'd look real hard at Idaho.
MT is going downhill though still a good place.

Why is MT going downhill, and what part/s of Mt.  #1 state in gun ownership isnt it?  And what makes ID superior to MT?  Just wondering.

From talking to people I know from MT the western part of the state, which is the nicest IMO, is being inundated with Kali liberals and the subsequent political bullshit.  Just what I hear. I wouldn't mind living there either.
