So, whats your favorite soundtrack ARFcom?
For me personally, The Devils Rejects soundtrack has some of the best movie music ever. Skynryd David Essex Terry Reid The Allmand Brothers Three Dog Night |
Reservoir Dogs
Star Wars (Any, but I like Episode I and Episode III the best) Halo 2 soundtrack Pulp Fiction Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 -those are some of my favorite soundtracks. |
Can't argue against the Rejects but I have to add:
Strangeland Forrest Gump Blade Tales from the Crypt's: Demon Night |
Forgot about Forrest Gump. Awesome soundtrack. |
Vegas baby! "You and me and the bottle makes three tonight . . ." |
All-time favorite: The Hunt for Red October
Other good ones in no particular order: Crimson Tide Plunkett & Macleane The Rock Schindler's List Hero Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Batman Begins Das Boot Yea, I know they're scores, not soundtracks.. |
Classical:
Anything John Williams (Star Wars IV-VI), Indiana Jones, Superman, etc The Hunt for Red October is good, too Star Trek Songs: Dazed and Confused Forrest Gump |
"On Any Sunday" is my favorite.
Also liked "The Professional" (for the song by Sting at the end), "The Hunt for Red October" (for what I believe is a Russian song at the end) and a number of others. |
Batman Begins
Gladiator The Village is also pretty good. Got all three on my IPOD right now. Band of Brothers is a good series, but I think that their soundtrack leaves much to be desires, save for a few select tracks. |
That was the Soviet national anthem, iirc. |
Dear America: Letter Home From Vietnam
Standing In The Shadows Of Motown( no, not Steve) Collateral Office Space Beavis and Butthead: Do America 8 Seconds Top Gun Forrest Gump Jackie Brown Pulp Fiction Team America If for no other reason than, America Fuck Yeah! HEAT Platoon Good Morning Vietnam |
Beyond Rangoon
Scarface Blade Runner Romeo and Juliet (68 version0 Victory at Sea If about musicals, then anything by Rogers and Hammerstein(spelling?) |
Somewhere in Time
Last of the Mohicans Meet Joe Black The Bounty Bladerunner As far as collections of pop music? I liked all of the John Hughes movies, for good soundtracks. Singles is a good one too, as well as So I Married An Axe Murderer, oddly. |
You, like, read my mind. Just for fun: Watch "Wrath of Khan", then "Aliens". Not similarity of music. Same composer (James Horner) at about the same time. Trivia Fact: Basil Poledouris composed the music for "The Hunt For Red October" and the ARFcom favorite "Red Dawn" |

Wow, nobody has said brokeback mountain yet.
Brokeback Mountain is so yesterday |
My favorite is "Last Action Hero", it has all the bands on it that I grew up listening to:
AC/DC Alice In Chains Megadeth Queensryche Anthrax Aerosmith Cypress Hill Tesla |
Shocker springs to mind just for the excellent "No More Mr Nice Guy" by Megadeth and a couple of cool tracks from Dudes of Wrath....
Maybe a bit dated now, but still have it in the car along with soundtracks from Resident Evil 1 & 2, Conan the Barbarian and best Spagetti tracks by Ennio Morricone...... |
Actaully that pretty well covers most good soundtracks. |
Lost Boys |
James Horner kinda ripped off Gustav Holst's The Planets (Mars). Listen to The Mask of Zorro, and there's a piece that bears striking resemblance.
Broken Arrow has a cool theme, too. |

Grosse Point Blank
The Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun The Clash - Rudie Can't Fail The English Beat - Mirror in the Bathroom David Bowie / Queen -Under Pressure Johnny Nash -I Can See Clearly Now Guns N' Roses -Live and Let Die Faith No More - We Care a Lot The Specials -Pressure Drop The Jam -Absolute Beginners The Clash -Armagideon Time Los Fabulosos Cadillacs -El Matador Pete Townsend -Let My Love Open the Door |
Thats a remake of a movie song, not the actual soundtrack version. Does that still count as a soundtrack song? |

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
We're gonna do what they say can't be done. We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch ol' Bandit run. |

The Good the Bad and the Ugly sountrack is great for cross-country drives.
Unforgiven also has nice music. I need to buy the Jackie Brown soundtrack. This is Spinal Tap! |

Excellent soundtrack but is it available on anything but vinyl and 8-track? |
