just drove and up the back end came! It's really MUCH steeper that the pics show. |
That's when you put the hammer down. It's damn near impossible to go over forward with your foot on the gas.
yup, my brain kept saying that but my foot wouldn't move! |
I always have the opposite problem. Foot on the gas, brain |

Did you get your shit stain off the seat?
You can admit it, we're men here. |
When you start sliding downhill you punch it. Sounds damn easy right up to the point of actually DOING it.
You came as close as anyone I've seen without going over. You UMMMM, get the s--t stains out of the seat yet? |
There're places in Moab where that will get your rig totaled and you and any passengers hurt or killed. |
By driving it like it was meant to be driven. |
You should post that in the Colorado thread on Jeepforum.com

wooohooo!!! now that's jeepin!!
you get all the seat cushion material out from between your buttcheeks yet? glad ya didn't go over. and yeah, pictures never seem to convey the difficulty of some stuff. from the looks of it, unless I'm seeing things wrong, its a damn good thing that tree was there!! looks like your top is up against it on the drivers side keeping you from going over. |
yup, the tree and the shackles on the bumper combined to stop it. It's really steep and very off camber. once I got to the bottem I had to hike back up and help another Jeep winch a Ranger back onto it's wheels. He flopped it crossing the grade.
A ranger with Texas plates in Lefthand, let me guess college student from Boulder.
haha! I'm not sayin' nothin! I still don't really know how he did that. |
No, I think he is still trying to get the seat cushion out of his ass! |
D'oh! do you now have a 3rd Jeep?
At least mine has a full cage, but next I'm putting a stinger on it. I'm kinda holding off on it though until I tube fender it. I'm only running 36" Iroks on it as it still has the I4 engine in it. I've got a Vortec 4.3l and an NV4500 sitting in the garage until I get the money scraped together for an Atlas. |
That'll buff right out! |
Damn, 36 inch tires with a 4 banger? I was running 31 inch tires, 4 banger, and manual on that red Jeep and it was a DOG when it came to driving. I will never again own a 4 cylinder Jeep. Unless its the diesel. |
I havent taken my Jeep off road yet, trails dont open till April.
I have a 97 Sport with the I6 and 33 tires. |
I had my seat belt on like everyone should when four wheeling. Much safer. You dont have time to think about jumping. I will say, I have seen one roll video where the guy was saved because he didnt wear his seatbelt. The truck rolled on a tail on a steep mountain, the Jeep began rolling down the mountain and everyone was screaming because the Jeep was basically demolished it was so far down the side. The the camera pans back up and the guy is sitting on the gournd in the trail. The Jeep had rolled to the drivers side dumping the dirver on the ground and the Jeep kept going. It saved his life. But I have seen fatalitys with guys not wearing their seatbelt. |
ya, it's a dog on the highway. Only gets up to about 70. It's a manual but it has 5.38 gears in it so that helps. High Pinion D44 in the front w/Detroit and a Ford 9" in the back with a Detroit. Trailer is coming up next. Once I get the trailer I want to hit Arizona this spring or maybe fall. Not a fan of AZ in the summer! |

It's really MUCH steeper that the pics show. yeah, i've noticed that when taking steep pictures (skiing) - doesnt look nearly as steep. cameras sux |
Nice!!
I'm sure there weren't any stains on the seat, maybe in your hat? (being so far tilted forward and all) I've always been a bit conflicted about Jeeps. I love their ability off road, but a few friends were killed in them (all off road), and several more have rolled them on-road. My pick-up won't go everywhere a Jeep will , but it's what works for me right now. |

You friggin vipers. Just when I am settling back to the idea of a Nissan . I go and see this thread.
Now I have been in some unusual places and situation, but never upended like that. I bet that was a hell of as ride. I would thing it would beat anything a Busch Gardens.
nah, go ahead and buy a nissan. you can't handle a jeep. girlie-man! |
You drove right out of that? I would think that, that you would need a little help getting out of that situation. ETA - I don't do this very often but i've just got to. |

My second jeep. The first was a 77 CJ5 with a 401, 4 spd with 410 gears and 33in tires.
This one is a 90 with a newly rebuilt 258, 4 in lift, soon to be 4:56 gears , lockers front and rear and 35 in Pro Comp mud terrains. Also here is my 76 Landcruiser. Chevy 350 HO crate engine, 330 hp. Chevy NV4500 transmission, 4:10 gears with lockers front and rear. 35in BFG all terrains, soon to be replaced with 35in Pro Comp Xterrains. |
Nice FJ 40... If I recall correctly, I've seen an FJ at MOAB with a Toyo 4 diesel motor.... overall, a pretty sick rig...

71, 72 with PTO winch and 76 with custom 1/2 shell. I miss my Jeep Eater. |
I had a PTO winch when I first bought it as a basket case 5 years ago but took it off for a more civilized electric winch. And yes, it is a Jeep eater. I bought the Landcruiser first, fixed it up, then my son took it away from me when he turned 16. I bought the Jeep to play with after that. |
