i have a buddy looking to get a late model wrangler and install a 4" lift. i have only lifted leaf spring vehicles. what is involved in lifting a coil sprung jeep? any tips or links on this install would be great. thanks.

It aint too bad, did my '01 TJ a little over a year ago. We did have a lift availible which speeded thing up quite a bit. It's pretty easy, drop the shock & control arms, it'll fall right out for ya. Go to www.jeepforum.com/forum/index.php & www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/index.php   & do a search, there are alot of good write up's availible. Now a word of warning, you are going 4" , there's a pretty good chance you will have drive line vibes because of the increased drive line angles, your transfer case (np241) has a slip yoke, in other words if your drive line throws a u joint & you have to drop it, all your fluid starts running out. A slip yoke eliminator & cv drive shaft will run you just over $500.00, you might be able to get by w/ a t-case drop kit for a bit. That being said all Jeeps are different & some will give you challenges when lifting & some will not. There's alot of research you can do, good luck !

Buy the best, most complete kit you can. You'll pay for it in the beginning, but it will end up cheaper in the long run. Get the Xfer case slip yoke eliminator installed at the same time.

You WILL get what you pay for. Warn had a Black Diamond system at one time [eliminated now] that was exellent but pricy.

There are some good ones on the market tho. It will always cost you more then you think.

For god sakes they have better shit to do then hold your hand with a bolt on mod.

I'm almost positive that Rubicon Express will be the preferred lift system on all of the message groups. Trust me :)

Yep, RE is one of the most highly recommended lifts out there.  As are Old Man Emu shocks.

Do the research, then lift it. My Cherokee has a four inch lift. (Coils in the front) Perfect for the city, expressway and the backroads where I live.  Handles just fine on and off road. You'll be happy. It will change the handling on a Wrangler so get used to it before getting crazy.
