I was playing with my lights tonight and shot some photos of the old, old stuff.
 Trapdoor Springfield .45-70 and 1898 Krag-Jorgenson.  Side-by-side with the 1903. Trapdoor details:  May the wings of Liberty never lose a feather.  The square bump on the hinge is part of the ejector. Krag details:  Smoothest. Action. Ever. The box magazine is fast to load. Just pop it open, drop in five rounds and slap it shut.  Markings are still sharp.  I wonder what the trajectory is like at 2000 yards? |

I've always wanted a 30-40 Krag. An uncle had one, after he passed one of the cousins snatched up the guns while the family was at the funeral. POS!

IIRC, someone told me that for the .45/70 that 98 moa is tequired for 1000 yards.
Don't know how true it is, but it's a heavy, slow moving bullet so I imagine the trajectory is like a rainbow. |

When I saw the title, I thought you meant the The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps here in DC
I'll shoot them too when I get off my azz and do a photo trip to Arlington Cemetary for you guys. Plus I need to get the Marine Corp Silent Drill platoon. |

See Krags every now and again at gun shows. But some butthead has attempted a sporterization of it and royally fucked it up.

Wow, I wish my 1898 had that much blue left. Nice.
My 1888 has better metal though so I guess we're even.
