It's been established that Springfield is in Kentucky, but where Springfield is located has always been a running joke for the entire series. It's not possible for one city to have all the things Springfield supposedly has in or near it like an oceanfront, mountains, large amounts of snowfall, a Daniel-Boone-like founder etc. Now where Matt Groening is from and where he was inspired for his characters and the "look" of Springfield is another matter, and I have no idea on that one. |

That's what I heard years ago. We also have a Springfield here... ETA: We also have mountains, forests, desert, beaches, hippies, right-wingers, a nearby active volcano, rivers, and about every other geological feature somewhere in the state... |

Yes, it's Portland. Terwilliger (as in Sideshow Bob) is a street here, as is Flanders (the neighbor), Quimby (the mayor), and Lovejoy (the reverend). But there are other Oregon references, too (Springfield is a town near Eugene, Springfield Gorge = Columbia Gorge, etc.). Matt Groening's Map of Portland ETA: Oh, and I think the nuclear plant Homer works at is probably modeled after Trojan, a nearby plant that was thoroughly mismanaged (now defunct). |

Does any one have a link wher I can just download it to watch. Streaming video aint so hot on Dial Up. It only goes a second or two before "Buffering" whicj stops the whole thing and makes it chopy
