after suffering a stroke yesterday
The Minnesota News Stations are all over this....I have a ticker at the bottom of my screen watching 24.
He is a Legend in Minnesota. |
I'm shocked. It's sad he was only 44. RIP Puck.
One of the best clutch hitters ever to play the game. |

Puckett Dies Following Stroke
Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett died Monday, a day after suffering a stroke at his Arizona home, a hospital spokeswoman said. The 44-year-old Puckett, who led the Twins to two World Series titles before his career was cut short by glaucoma, was stricken Sunday morning at his Arizona home. |

"Get on my back, I'll carry you guys" |
KKKKIIIIRRRRRRRBBBBBYYYYYY PPPPPUUUUUCCCCCKKKKEEETTTTT!!!!!!!!
When you heard that name over the Metrodome loudspeakers you just knew something good would happen. Its sad if he passed away. He had some problems in the past few years but his greatness as a ballplayer will never diminish. RIP Puck. |
career 318 average. That says something. Anyone hazard a guess on roid use? 44 is pretty young for a stroke.
Shit, it's a sad day for baseball.
Kirby was a stand up player and a stand up person, he was a true role model for me while growing up playing ball. He will be missed by this baseball fan. |
I had heard he had gained a lot of weight recently |
The homerun............................this is a really sad day for me. |
He's a sad tale of going from the pinnicale to bottom.
Sorry it all went downt he way it did for him, becasue he seemed like a good guy for most of his life. |
44! Damn, I'm 41
RIP Kirby and this is coming from a lifelong Yankee fan. |

People dont appreciate the decline in health a pro athlete goes through after retirement. Especially black athletes. The years of punishment and a lot of the time steroids shortens the clock quite a bit. I am not saying Kirby did but in general they burn up their lives at a much faster rate. Not to mention they live fast lifestyles and the partying does not help their health.
I saw Billy Sims at a Lions game recently the dude can barely walk. We are talking about a man with several rushing records during his time. The average NFL player will die 5 years before you or me. But what do you expect being in a car accident everyday of your teen and adult life. Paul Karyia can barely remember his name anymore with all the concussions. I would love to see what his brain looks like when he croaks. I bet there are more holes in it then swiss cheese. Your cells only divide and repair themselves only so many times before they are not able. |

What better way to describe the man, than to say, he played for the love of the game. For that, he has my deepest respects.
This is very, very sad. I grew up in Minnesota and I was always a huge Twins fan and watched every second of the 1987 and 1991 World Series. He was the kind of player the Twins were so lucky to have in those years.
Seemed like a nice guy. You don't see that much any more in any professional sport. ANY team would have been lucky to have him. It always amazed me to see a man with an ass that big run so fast. He was a rarity in sports today and will be missed. RIP Kirby. |
We'll see ya...........tomorrow night...............
RIP Kirby Puckett. |
KP..
left 2 things always on my mind.. 1- he had fun playing baseball..he always was grinning and enjoyed the game. 2- he played for 1 team..his whole career.. |
He was inducted in 2001 right? If so it was his induction party at my history museum in Cooperstow that I had to work late, with no overtime to entertain the kids of his guests.
Typical Rich folk, I cant get all worked up over his passing. Someone is going to get screwed, probably a cop who has to work the funeral on his day off or some other such BS |
A sad day for Minnesotans, Twins Fans, and the world of Baseball. He was my favorite Twins player....
Well boo-hoo for you. |
A great player that hit hard times as hard as he hit the ball.
Glacoma and a stoke at age 44 - the steriod abuse finger was pointed at him. |
Breed Apart, Make no Sense ect ect ect He probably wouldnt give you the time of day, yet even after he is dead your blowing him. |
Who pissed in your Cornflakes? |
He Did, I had to work for free entertaining the kids of his guests during his induction party at Cooperstown. No thank you, or thank you letter, just demanded that my historic site be open so the kids wouldnt bother all the adults getting hammered. |
good for him, maybe in hell he can slap, abuse, and grope women........the guy was as two face as they come, Jose Canseco did the same shit to his own wife, Dirty Kirby would do this shit at nightclubs to others people's wives, girlfriends, or whomever.
Go some other thread. |
Are you fucking kidding me? |
I grew up in MN and watched Kirby play for years, he was a great ball player!!!
Dude, it's a free thread but have a little respect. Start your own if you wanna bash the guy. |
