Got pulled over on the way home for making a right hand turn on a NO TURN ON RED intersection. I was so concentrating on the traffic did not see the cop behind me. So how did a KelTec get me out of a ticket. Here's a summary of what happened:
Cop: You know you ran a red light back there. Me: I was making a right turn!! Cop: Yes. Its a no turn on red. Lic Reg and ins please. Me: Here ya go and I have a CHL too. Cop: You currently have a pistol with you?? Me: Yes, its here (pointing between seat and ctr console) Cop: OK, well for your safety and mine. I would like to have the firearm during this stop. Me: OK (take out gun hand it to officer between forefinger and thumb), here ya go. Its got one in the chamber, gun has no safety. Cop: (takes gun. smiles. shake head. hands me back the gun) I'll be back with a warning ticket. Cop: (come back with my warning ticket) You can really shoot someone with thing. Me: well its more of a deterent. [laughing] Cop: Have nice evening. [chuckles and walks off] See having a wussy gun pays off. I carry a KelTec cause its the only gun I can conceal in business wear during spring fall and summer. Unless I want to wear a jacket all day in 80 degree Texas heat. So I stick it in my pocket. And now it seems it get me out of traffic tickets too. Out of pity or the sheer humor of it. |
I carry a KelTec too for the same reasons. It's nice to know that a .32 is good for something afterall.
i have the 380 model. It's a little mouse gun, but it's nice to have a gun that i can conceal no matter what i wear

I don't know how much the Kel Tec helped, but being polite sure helps. I've never gotten a ticket in my life, I've been stopped several times, I'm polite and courteous, and have always gotten a verbal warning. One guy at my office last year got stopped while he was out for lunch break, he came back bragging about how he let the cop know what he thought of him and the traffic stop, I'll tell you right now, if you show a bad attitude you can turn a courtesy stop into a ticket in a heartbeat, he displayed a bad attitude and got the ticket to prove it!
I have got away without a ticket a few times,it helps to not be an asshole.
I'm never an asshole during stops. They are just doing their job. I let the courts decide on whose wrong or right. I always fight my tickets.
Where in TX is there no right on red? I never saw that in 25 years there...
Amazing how few people seem to realize this. I also have a Keltec P-32. It fits right in the pocket of my standard shorts. Always there. |
I told you size didn't matter. TRG |
I have a P32...maybe it'll get me out of a ticket, too.
Dumb question: what is up with this? Is this common? |
Can we get a BOT with the p32, lets see how laughable the round is |
In Texas, they can disarm you for their own safety, or the safety of others. After you are 'released' they return the weapon. TRG |
That is part of having a CHL in TX. The cop can disarm you. As TRG mentioned they give it back after the stop. In the time I have been pulled over, I have only been disarmed 2X. I don't count this incident |

Here's my kel tec situation:
"Hello officer" "Hello sir, may I have your license and registration" "Here's my license and ccw permit. My gun is in the glovebox." "You have a gun in the glovebox?" "Yes mamn, I do. What would you like me to do? May I take my registration out of the glovebox?" "No, no, no, please don't take it out of the glovebox, your drivers license will do" wait minutes.... "here's your license and ccw. Your license plate light is out, so I'm just going to give you a warning tonight" "May I walk out and look at my license plate lights?" "Sure sir, walk right out" "Ah, I'll get this fixed. You have a nice day officer." Me(silent)-My, you have a cute ass and no ring on your finger. I wonder if you're single. ETA-This was the first time I was ever stopped with both a permit and a loaded gun.. |
No! It can't be! |
My p-32 is with me most of the time because it's so damn easy to carry. I know it's "only" a .32 but it can put out a nice little display of firepower when needed.
As a matter of fact, I'm working on it. Stay tuned. |

My HK Mk 23 SOCOM got me out of a ticket last summer.
I gave the state trooper my CHL along with my liscence & registation when he pulled me over. He just asked what I was carrying that day, and it was my Mk. 23. He had to have a look at it (he said he had always wanted one) and it went from a speeding ticket to a BS session, and I even got invited to go shooting with him and a couple of his friends. |
Everyone needs a P32. Worse case scenario, you let your kid have a go at it everytime you take him or her shooting |
I have the P3AT and love it. It will conceal in places the P32 wont
p32 sonds much more James Bond'ish |
So, you deserve pity because you have a small gun.....
Was the cop a female? |
I have a P-32 and love it. But I am really looking forward to the PF-9:

Nah. Big bald headed white guy. Funny thing is he was wearing mirrored shades. Kind like in the movies. I was waiting for him to say, " What we got here is a failure to communicate" |
Nice! Do you have a larger picture? I cant quite make out the molecular composition of the frame. |
Hit refresh. It's a smaller pic now. |
I see that, I guess Keltec likes big pictures. One of these may find its way to me soon! |

When I got stopped for speeding comeing back from Gunstock the cop let me keep my 1911 while he went to the car and wrote me a warning. I believe being a gunowner and still having the Presidential Library admission tag on my shirt helped.
I've been stopped a couple of times here in DFW, never had to turn over my weapon.
Did have a black female cop ask to see my G26, she pointed it into my truck with her finger on the trigger, saying "this is one o dem Austrailian guns, ain't it?" |
One time, I got stopped, the cop goes, do you have any guns in the car.
I am like, yep, one in my pocket, one in my door, and one under the seat. He just said slow down and let me go. TXL |
Ok, that is pretty damn funny... "Now look here meow" Bigfeet |
Glad it worked out for you.
File this one under the what NOT to do department: Cop: "Did you know I clocked you at 78 in a 55?" Me: "Really?" Cop: "It's your lucky day. I'm only going to write you up for 70. Wanna' know why?" Me: "Ummm.......you aren't good at fractions?" Cop: "Sir, step out of the car." I don't recommend bringing up their poor performance of mental math during roadside chats. |
Be thankful he wasn't bored and playing the 'meow' game. |
LMFAO |
Damn right it is a mouse gun.... the other night one of those mangy rodents actually picked my 3AT up and held me at gun point for some cheese. |
