That is just damn nuts what is going on up north!
 Nobody is fighting back... I wonder what would happen if total gun confiscation happened here in the states? ---------------------------------------------------------- Gun hotline rings up arrests, nets weapons ottsun.canoe.ca/News/OttawaAndRegion/2006/03/04/1471998-sun.html By JON WILLING, OTTAWA SUN Police have made four arrests and seized seven firearms thanks to tips to a special Crime Stoppers hotline. Ottawa police launched the gun hotline after wrapping up their gun amnesty program Feb. 15. Staff Sgt. Mike Callaghan, who has been leading the city's firearms task force, said the hotline has received about a dozen calls. Restricted handguns and long guns have been seized, Callaghan said. Police have been pleased with programs designed to crack down on illegal gun activity. The 21-day gun amnesty brought in 506 firearms, including 118 handguns. Police also collected ammunition and replica guns. None of the firearms were reported stolen. Police also hope to design a pamphlet describing the tip line to citizens, Callaghan said. The line allows people to report illegal firearms in exchange for cash. The city has provided $100,000 for rewards. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Actually, he probably does own a gun. He became an NRA member as part of his agenda, maybe he bought a gun so he can say he owns one too. Or, you know, since he's one of the "elite" and doesn't have to follow the same rules as everyone else (like half of the Brady bunch that are always getting arrested for drug and gun violations), he might have a gun to protect him from the unwashed masses. |

Careful. You might find out that the world is truly "global" in its reach and there is probably some reciprocity agreement between the U.S. and Canada that allows you to be prosecuted for making a false report. Ain't Big Brother and Unity wonderful? |

Hamilton amnesty nets 300 guns
Mar. 9, 2006. 08:35 PM HAMILTON (CP) — Hamilton's month-long gun amnesty has already seen more than 300 firearms handed to police — some with more jaw-dropping firepower than others. Earlier this week, a resident turned over 67 rifles and shotguns and one handgun. The next day, he called police again and told them he had one more weapon to get rid of. When officers returned to his home, he handed them one of the most feared machine-guns of the Second World War — a German MP-42. Built to fire 1,300 rounds a minute, the machine-gun was easily manufactured, reliable and worked under the most adverse conditions. All firearms handed in under the amnesty, which continues until the end of the month, will be destroyed, said Chief Brian Mullan. Even weapons of historical significance will be destroyed, Mullan said. "Owners will know if the gun is historically significant and they can turn them over to a museum," Mullan said. "But if they turn them over to us, we will destroy them." Police already have two laundry carts full of rifles and shotguns, including a century-old American Winchester rifle. They have also collected boxes of handguns, from flint-lock duelling pistols to small one-shot Derringers. |
