I am in Jax hanging out for the weekend. I decided to go over to shooters and squeeze off a few rounds
I purchased 2 +1 extensions for my G36 and 1 extension for my G26. 100 rounds of 9mm, and I already have a few hundred to 500 rounds of 230gr .45
The S&W regional rep was there , cool, I get to check out the new AR they have!
It is just like any other one out there minus some of Colts stuff on the lower .
I got to fondel a few of the 1911s , this is where I get in trouble!

There is a waiting list for the range, so when it is my turn to enter the bay, I decided to shoot the 1911PD, besides I get 15 rounds and a $5 range fee to boot.  So I take this 1911PD load up the mag, I also load up my 2 G36 mags with the newly installed extension. I shoot a few off of the S&W, then a few of the Glock... I look like this . Lemme try this again, same outcome.
I run the target out to 25 yards. Do process again,. DAMN! This S&W shoots WAY BETTER then my Glock(s)! I shoot 9 more rounds out of the 1911PD at a fresh target, reel it in and I am pissed! I yank down the target, go over to the S&W rep and tell him how evil and retched he is, and he is just a bad bad man! Show him the target, and give him his pistol back. S&W rep ask "whats wrong?" ME, "you just cost me money, now I gotta get one of these and the Glocks have to go! Bastige!! He just laughed and laughed as I smiled and complimented him on a fine tool!

To top my day off, we hear a "cease fire!". "We are going to do a sort of friendly shooting competition, free, all ya gotta do is shoot, one closest to the bullseye, gets the prize".
Hell, I'll give it a try! It is a .44 mag wheelie, SWEET! I have not shot one of these in a while.

I go 4th, I think. 1" high and to the left, "hummm that might do it" as I pass the pistol off to the staff."whats the prize anyhow?"hat or T shirt, cool! Back to wondering "why am I shooting this F%$#ing G36!?"  My goodness that 1911PD shot to damned natural, great now I gotta buy another pistol! hummm 2 Glocks for one 1911, sounds like a plan!

OH, the prize is the nice S&W hat that fits nicely on my melon BTW, I was second, one guy was 1/4" closer

ETA: Looks like 2 Glocks will be on the EE soon

And obvious lack of intelligence by preferring ANY Smith Auto or ANY 1911 over a Glock.

There is NO comparison between a 1911 and a Glock...period.

The 1911's are the perfect fighting handgun.

I like my 1911 PD in Commander Length much better than my Glock 21.  As for that 1984 German Made Sig P226 9mm in the photo, that starts to become a toss up with the 1911 PD.

FYI:
The 1911PD is the same lenth and width as a G36.
the difference is the grip angle and lenth.
Really close to the same weight too.

no comments on the winning hat huh?

I reckon I'm pretty happy being dumb, then.  No worries.

I figure, the Glock is like the Ford Escort of handguns.  They're pretty much all the same and there's just not a lot you can do to change them.

The 1911 is more like the 57 Chevy of handguns.  You can trick them out, do all kinds of customizations, and make the gun yours.

And that said, I've never found a Glock that fits my hand, so the point is moot.  I'm going to shoot the gun that fits my hand.  I can put more lead downrange more accurately with a 1911 than I ever will with a Glock, so why would I bother with the Glock.  No matter how smart I get, a Glock will never fit my hand.  Just not going to happen unless they change the design.

I think Outsider_10fp just found out he is a natural 1911 shooter and not a natural Glock shooter.

Plus, I don't really see a point in sending my hard-earned money to a bunch of stupid Europeans who come over here with their big hairdos intent on taking my hard-earned money instead of giving it to a deserving American company.  (with apologies to The Dead Milkmen)

Edit to fix my obvious lack of intelligence in quoting ability.

I didnt know they added an "Explosive and Demolitions" section to EE.

And yeah... the 1911 is a wonderful gun, though I have never shot a S&W.

Yes well sorry to burst your bubble but the S&W is not like the Chevy, it is like the escort in the way you describe them as you can't trick it out.  The vast majority of parts from the Gunsmiths will not work in the S&W nor will you be able to find a Smith that would work on them.
I am not trying to discount the S&W but many people do not realize what they buy is what they get with the S&W.....

If you are happy with the S&W then it is the gun for you.

I thought the proprietary extractor was about the only thing "different" on the 1911PD and things like the hammer, trigger, beavertail, safety, etc. could be easily replaced.  Am I wrong?
