I lived in Brunei as a kid for 1-2 years. My dad worked for a company that did construction work for the Sultan.

It was wonderful for a kid. Incredible wildlife and fish. Tremendous variation in food and cultures.

I still miss the giant bowls of wonton soup that you would get at the open air resturants.

Then I moved to Seattle/Tacoma and the Detroit area. Not as interesting or fun. But no wild animals trying to eat you.

I lived in Boulder, CO for 3 years. that place is pretty fucking weird.

While in the Army, I stayed at a german aircraft and bomb production bunker outside of Venice, Italy. Pretty cool...looked like nobody had been in there since the end of the war.

I was only there for about two months, but it made me want to go back to Europe over and over again. Someday I will.

Grew up in Singapore and Taiwan. It isn't exotic per se, but you guys stateside might think so.

Did my undergrad at Berkeley. It's like a whole 'nother planet....

I will exclude the exotic places the Army sent me. :)

Raised my family on a State Park, beautiful residence in paradise,
went on to manage ocean front condos, had a beautiful ocean front
residence.

No complaints here.

I used to live in a canvas wall tent in the Frank Church Wilderness in Idaho. That was pretty exotic.

I spent a couple months living under the snake river bridge in Lewiston Idaho. That was pretty wierd.

Grain shed attached to a farm house in Essex Center Vermont. Mom, dad me and my 2 brothers. Lived there for 2 years.

This one clearly falls into the weird category.

Marlette Michgan. 19 churches & one bar that was closed by 10:00pm. No Sunday hunting. Incredible cliques were it seemed everyone looked down their nose at you for the slightest reason.

Been there, done that. Did 3 trips to Japan. First at the Embassy, second at Zama and third to Sendai (northern Honshu) Also did Korea where I was working in a bunker but staying at the Seoul Hilton. Spent first 11.5 years in Germany and we travelled a lot. Most bizzarre place was at a health camp (had asthma as kid, climate change) for 6 weeks in what could only be described as a winter resort in Bavaria. Extremely beautiful, but was weird in that it was all kids staying in this huge bavarian hostel.

Sir, OK I'll play. Exotic: I lived on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor Hawaii for three and a half years. Also lived in Bandol, Southern France for about seven months. Weird: I lived in Naples, Italy for about seven years total. 7zero1, out.

I lived for about half a year with my parents in Malaysia in the mid 80s, and would live with them for several weeks at a time when they lived in Nigeria (and when I had leave in the army).

Other than that, for someone who grew up in Holland, Denmark and Germany - places like Washington D.C., Chicago and Nashville have been pretty "exotic" places to live

*Bar owners/bartenders willing to serve anyone old enough to see over the bar. Bar owners pimping out their own wives, sisters, daughters to the customer. Bars letting "women" as young as 14yo in. Shitty economy. Families trying to set up their teenage daughters with any Marine they could latch onto. Creepy.

I lived in the People's Republic of Cambridge (MA) for about 23 years (born and raised), about a mile/mile-and-quarter from Harvard Square. For anyone who's ever seen or been to "The Pit" in Harvard Square (just above ground at the T Station), calling it "weird" is an understatement.

Taiwan certainly counts as "wierd" (sic). Where else has the president of the ~~renegade province~~ country been shot in an apparent assassination attempt just days before the presidential election, resulting in the opposition throwing a tantrum claiming he did it deliberately to increase his "sympathy vote"?

I was stationed at NAS Key West/ Boca Chica. I lived in Key Wesy next street over from Duval for 6 years. Party town, nice climate. Not for family living or sober living. greeat diving and fishing. Lots of hot women. Oh, and lots of gays.
