They make rolls plastic for just such uses. Your local hardware store should have some.

+1 on the spray can coating.
One coat and you can still kind of see through it; two coats, and all you can make out is light or dark, no detail. That's what I used on the windows in the basement. About $4 a can and if you dont like it, it scrapes off with a putty knife. |

You can use "whiting"
Kind of a flour thing(calcium carbonate I think) Essentially "white wash." |

There's glass paint or some stuff called Gallery Glass. They both give the glass a stained glass look. Either scrape off or peel off. You can get them at Wally World.

I tape aluminum foil over my windows so my neighbors won't see me watching porn. Plus it repels aliens. This is a stopgap measure until I can finish building my fort.

I saw something on one of those home redecorating shows the other day. It was a static vynal sheet. Wet down the window, put it on, squeege off the excess water. Done. It peels right back off, too. Not a clue what the name brand was, though.
