With weather like this, I had to go again today (Sunday)!  Took a buddy this time:

___________________________________________________

(Saturday)
A sunny ~65*, low wind.  Man, couldn't be better.

Approaching my 'range':

Balloons make good targets:

Long range balloons:

My "bench":

Through the sights:

Then I went on a hike.  Look at these massive rocks:

Found an odd old bottle, says "Avon" on the bottom.  Go fig.:

____________

Like I said, great day for shooting!  Sometimes I prefer to shoot solo, it's relaxing.  Though some kids walked up on me and I think I scared the mess out of them .

Those are balloons.  Great reactive targets when there's no more tannerite left.

I went out and blasted some today, met a few fellow shooters.

It was under 50 here so it was just right for us warmer blooded folk. I got a used Aimpoint off the EE for my para FAL and sighted that in.

One guy had a PSS .308 he had just gotten.

I gave him the pleasure of working the action on my Tikka Tactical. He was in awe.

It was a great day I haven't been out to the range for a while.

You have some serious windage dialed into that rifle. How much as the wind blowing?

It happens.  You've never seen any other's dialed that far?  Look around.

Camp - check the hometown

David - ear, yes.  I brought eye, but left it in the truck and wasn't about to walk all the way back to get it.

Weather was about the same here. Just a beautiful day.

Daughter wanted to go shooting. Something big. She wanted to shoot my "Saving-Private-Ryan-gun". The rest of the world knows it as the M1 Garand. This is only the second time she's ever shot it. We went through a whole belt, 80 rds. I'll bet I only shot it half a dozen times out of that. She's awful proud of her bruised shoulder. She's a good shot when you can get her out and today was no exception. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be downrange of her and in her sights.

I took my XM177-clone.

It was a very good afternoon.

And thanks for the ballons idea.

Beetle, any way you could IM me the location of your range. Looks like a great place to shoot, I'm getting tired of going to the Helena wildlife management area, and not ready to pony up for a membership somewhere yet......

it's about 500 yards from where I park my truck.  Sadly, for the local location inquiries, it's kind of a "private" spot, but usually if I know you well enough (either from group shoots or on here) I you are more than welcome to join.

I think I'm taking a new shooter out with me today.  This should be fun.

PCSutton - yep, brought the bottle home (there's also TONS of petrified wood around the location.  I wonder if it's worth anything.

Abandoned strip pits.  I plan to buy it when I get the chance so it will remain undeveloped.  Got to raise some capital first.

Is the other rifle an Enfield? I cant tell to well from the pic, but the full-length stock and the magazine look enfield-ish.

Nah. Look at the sling. M/N slings attach on the side of the buttstock and the side of the barrel, IIRC.
