It's a political thing.

I heard that "Chronicles of Narnia" (sp?) made more money than all 5 "Best Picture" movies combined.

1/2

I stared to watch Crash, but turned it off halfway through.  Typical "everyone's a victim" bullshit.

Didn't see any of them.

I did see something on TV the other day about what an  important  year it was for films.  Bareback Mountain, Capote, and Trans-America (or something) all got some kind of nomination.  It is very  important  that homosexuality/gender identity issues be ...   this sentence isn't even worth finishing.  Hollywood sucks.

none..and no plans to do so, although "Crash" seems interesting, I'll wait until DVD to even make a decision.  "Munich" has already been done IMO, "Sword of Gideon" wasn't too bad.

The saving grace of the year is that they didn't include "Transamerica" in the best movie category.  "Capote" and "Brokeback" ought to be enough for the "under-represented" 2-3% of America.  I predict lots of movies on abortion in the coming year.

Saw Crash. Not bad. Not great, but not bad.

Guy had it on DVD here on the rig. Was full of your typical hollyweird liberal bullshit, but it did make me think about a few things. It is a small world out there.

saw crash.

The money figures do not lie though.....what the critics and what the consumer thinks are good movies are two different things.

Crash is actually not a bad movie.  It ain't great, but it busts up most of your typical movie-making stereotypes.  It is not an "everyone is a victim" movie.

My one complaint:  the car-jacking criminals are also philosophical, introspective, articulate gentlemen with a mildly askew moral compasses, not the sociopathic degenerates that actually populate the prisons in America.  It makes criminals too human.  Most aren't, at least by any standard that I use to judge humanity.

I haven't seen any of the others.

I saw none of the nominated films, I won't watch them on DVD, if they ever hit cable I don't expect I'll watch them there, either.

In 2005, I saw Serenity in the theater twice.  That's the sum total of the support I gave to Hollywood last year.

This year, I *might* see "V for Vendetta" because the premise of the movie seems interesting and the trailers are good (plus anything with Natalie Portman in it can't be *all* bad).
