At this rate I'll have my PPSEL around the year 2055.

Someday I want to end up bumming around the Bahamas in a Caravan on amphibs. You suckers can keep your aviation careers. I could make more money selling crayon art on a street corner.

Sorry, but I think technically speaking, to claim "flight" you have to be able to exert control in an upwards as well as downwards manner.      If you ever get a positive VS, you probably did something wrong.

Leaping from a perfectly sound aircraft is only logical if (choose one):

(1) The aircraft is on fire.

(2) Captain Mohammad starts mumbling something about abu ackbar

(3)  Your pockets are stuffed with cash, and Feds are waiting at your destination.

(4)  You've got jump wings and a calling to preserve freedom.

It is only a good career for those who have a passion for it.  The payscale is inverted.  Flight Instructors and freight dogs have all the risk with little pay, while the Airline or Corporate pilots get good pay with little risk.      Btw- how much do you make selling crayon art?

Never flew again after 1982 except for sailplanes in early '90s. Burned out.

Slightly off topic, but for you plane and helicopter guys, which is the easier method to learn both - plane then helicopter, or vice versa?

[constitutionalist/militia/freeman, whacko] The skies belong to everyone. You don't need a license to fly. The freedom to travel is a right, not a priviledge that can be regulated by the Govt.[/constitutionalist/militia/freeman, whacko]

If you want both certs, learn helo first, you have to be able to finesse the directional pedals (helo)/rudder pedals (fixed wing), and helo will make you learn the control a bit better.

Solo in Cessna 152 in 1980.

Have been a flight instructor and freight pilot but flying King Air's for almost 18 years now.

Just got home from three days in the simulator.

Don't know if I'd do it all again. I love the flying part but the business part wears me down sometimes.

I'd make more money selling BMW's...
