After reading about the taliban at yale, the deceased U.S. soldier's home vadalized, and homeowners being fined for protecting themselves from illegals, I'm mad enough to chew nails and spit out tacks!

I've always believed we could never be bested by outside forces in a fight, but I would have never imagined the things that I read nowadays.

Are we on the road to ruin from inside?  Someone please tell me that this is just isolated crap - that this is not indicative of more to come.  Or are we headed for a major implosion?

It's only going to get worse. The culture war within America has been going on for more than 40 years now.

Every great country and empire as fell from within....
And from the looks of it...we're going down that road.

Sometimes I wonder...wtf does our govenment have to be so damn stupid? AKA...giving our ports to a small Arab country, which 2 people there were 9-11 terrorists....
I wanna kick some certain government ass....

Yup.  Rotting from the inside.
If it keeps up, outside forces will eventually bring us down because we'll be too weak to resist.

I keep remembering Hitler's words to his worried generals before operation Barbarossa.

"Don't worry about a thing.  Just kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will collapse."

What's wrong with this picture?

Some observations from Tim Blair:

The forbidden cartoons of Mohammadness have been published more widely in Muslim countries than in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada combined. In Malaysia alone, three newspapers ran images – compared to just two newspapers in Australia.

Not a single major US daily went near them.

Commentary

I think the real reason for the reluctance among Anglospheric publications to print the Danish cartoons was less timidity than the fear of tacitly repudiating the underlying assumption of the President Bush's War on Terror, that the West is not at war with Islam but only with a small group of extremists who have corrupted "the religion of peace". The Danish cartoons threatened to convert this limited war into a more general confrontation between the value systems of the West and Islam. Why, one might ask, should the media, with no love lost for President Bush, care at all about protecting the key assumption of his limited war? The reason I think, is that the Left in their reflexive opposition to President Bush since the invasion of Iraq had not bothered to create a war strategy of their own. The nomination of Senator John Kerry in 2004 was an attempt to offer up the appearance of an alternative rather than a rival strategy. He was a placeholder for a policy that didn't exist. Trapped in the mental world of the 20th century, the Left had not decided how to respond to the challenge of the 21st. In marked contrast to the Cold War, in which 9 successive US administrations pursued the common policy of containment against the Soviet Union, the war after September 11 was characterized by the absence of a strategic consensus. President George Bush had a strategic vision; and the Democrats an endless supply of peanuts which they were prepared to pitch from the gallery.

Once the Danish cartoon crisis threatened to knock the props out from under President Bush's limited war on Islamic renegades and escalate it to a "clash of civilizations" the barrenness of the Lefist intellectual cupboard became obvious even to themselves. There was no recipe to deal with this contingency. A "clash of civilizations" would pull matters from their grasp precisely because they refused to touch it  in the first place. They could only continue to pretend Islamism didn't exist; and so they thrust their heads into the sand even further. The Danish cartoons? What cartoons?

The Left in America are at the core of all of our problems.  America can not be beaten in a stand up fight.  Only our own traitors can bring us down.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum.  They are also known as neocons and progressives and they don't care what the other 75% of the population thinks or wants.

Exactly. No one want to compromise and the politicians seem to lose their ideals once they gain office. When a true middle of the road party can become viable, look for the Dems and Reps to start losing many voters in droves. Personally, I agree with some of the views of both parties but the extremist agendas have ruined it for themselves and this country along the way. Case in point, how many people actually turn out to vote anymore?

I would disagree.  The core of all our problems is the American People, as we vote in the left, right, and whoever gets in.

We, the American People, can name all of the characters on the Simpsons TV show, but can't name what rights that are enumerated in the First Amernment.

We, the American People, don't believe in or read the Constitution.  This can be shown in how almost no one who is voted in or works for the government follows it, even though they swear an oath to uphold it.

We, the American People, follow and believe in unjust laws that have watered down our rights to be a small percentage of what they were.

We, the American People, pay our taxes happily while most of the money is wasted or used to run socialistic programs.

We, the American People, support foreign governments, corporate socialism, and globalism while our own country is being taken advantage of by the same foreign governments, and corporations.

We, the American People, don't really believe in the ideals our country was founded on.  We believe in a politically correct rehash of events which gives us freedom from religion, no rights to firearms or to protect ourselves, and freedom from responsibility.
