I hope it does justice....
I listened to a interview of her on NPR a few years ago. It was done when she was old. Basically, she said modern women were whores with no self respect. |

Yeah, it's hard to do justice to someone who made her living doing BDSM, bondage, light porn, etc. I mean, how do you do that without making it trashy??

Who in blue hell is Betty Page?? ETA -- She seems to be some sort of pinup model. EETA -- Holy crap! She was not just a pinup model!! She did pin up type pictures in the 50s (late 40s?), some bondage, some in leopard skin bikinis. She is kind of iconic, you still see cartoons and painting that look like her. Pretty tame stuff by today's standards, but there are pics of her spanking another woman with a hairbrush and that kind of stuff. |

I have seen such art, thus my wondering why a "pinup" would be so "notorious", as most pinups of the day were wearing enough clothing to qualify as nuns in modern society. That's why I did a web search. The first lgoogle image search produced pictures of her wearing 40s and 50s style bathing suits and the like. Nothing very racy or "notorious". (I use the safe search option for obvious reasons...) Thus I figured the "notorious" label had to come from her personal behavior, and did a web search where I found websites devoted exclusively to her more.....unusual.......pictures. |

The "notorious" is because she didn't simply do cheesecake in the 1950s. The fact that she did pics tied up and spanking women (which is pretty tame by current standards) was "notorious" back then. I really don't get into the bondage stuff, while corsets and stockings look wonderful I am bored by BDSM and I'd rather skip it. The cool thing about Betty is simply the look, and like Monroe she is an icon of that age. |

She is still alive in Nashville TN. Pretty much a recluse. Has a High School named for her.She is spotted every now and again.
Bettie Page was one of my favorite wallpapers. The missus isn't too receptive of it.
