Besides being non gun friendly, what state is the worst to live in? I hate Michigan, but we are fairly gun friendly so I don't think here would be the worst. I would think somewhere like New York would be, but I've never been there. So, what do you think?

Gunwise, I would say Hawaii would be the worst.
Economically, Hawaii is also probably the most expensive.
Quality of lifewise, though, I think I'd go with New Jersey.

California's actually a pretty nice place to live, except for the gun laws of course. There are a lot  of places that are really beautiful, and the climate is nice and moderate. The gun laws just ruin it...

depends on the criteria for "worst" state.   here in wv, everyone has a gun.  we have 2 million people in the entire state and something like 30 million guns registered.  when you're born here, you get a diaper bag filled with free samples, a baby blankie, free formula  and a winchester 30.06.

Ohio's got the worst ccw law.  We can carry concealed but not in the car.  In the car the weapon has to be either in a holster on your person in plain sight or locked up in the glove box or locked up in a transport case in plain sight.  If that doesn't suck, I don't know what does....

I somehow doubt whether most of these guys dumping all over California have ever even been here.  California has, without a doubt, the best weather, the most beautiful scenery, and some of the hottest women in the U.S. (Or the world).  Aside from guns, my big thing is motorcycles; in most parts of the U.S., your motorcycle is garaged from about October--April.  Here, we ride year round.

Most people who think they hate California don't know a damn thing about the state, and think that it consists solely of L.A. and San Francisco.  Which means, essentially, that they don't know a damn thing about California.  Most of the state is rural and pretty conservative.

To be certain, California has its downsides--the gun laws suck, the taxes are high, the traffic in urban areas is obnoxious, and the state's politics are dominated by these liberal asshats from that narrow leftist strip of the state stretching along the coast from L.A. to San Francisco.  But, on balance, this has gotta be the best place to live.

Of course, for those who think "Kalifornia" is hell on earth, please keep thinking that way, and stay away accordingly; we've got more than enough people here already, and sure as hell don't need you here.

Exactly. The thread starter stated  state being worse because "other than the gun laws".
Based on that, I would have to say it would be any one of many of the Southern states.

A state ran by Chicago mobsters.

Chicago city schools are made up of 90% of children being at or below the poverty line.  (Source: NCLB Conference in Shitcago)

A guy from Chicago bragged about Chicago pizza. So, I went to a famous pizza joint and the pizza  tasted like cardboard shit.  A bunch of damed sauce with pepperoni and no seasoning.  Could've went to damned Monicals.  To top it the shit costed $20 for four pieces.

At least you can carry...

In NJ your fucked twice. NJ is a "May Issue" state, but by may issue they mean only if your a retired cop or you sucked the dicks of both your local police chief and Judge. Basiclly no chance of getting a carry permit.

The second way your fucked is some states will issue carry permits to non-residents, but if they live in a "May Issue" state and do not hold a permit in their home state...that state will not allow you to have a permit either. PA laws are like this...I can't get a PA carry permit because NJ will not issue a permit.

Be thankful you live in America and have the right to defend yourself. Those of us who reside in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey have no such right.

Yes, way too many times.
screwy gun laws, overtaxed, over populated, over poluted (BTW, they still closing beaches due to haz mat washing up?), over trafficed ( too many GD cars), over leftist (is that a word?), too many car chases, too many gangs, too much asphault, too many head bashing LEOs( goes along with ^ I guess). too many illegals, too many Hollywoodites, too many SAnFransicites, hummmm I could keep going ya know !

PROS : Geograhical makeup in wonderfull, SOCal weather is superb, great Mexican food, good IT region.... i think that is it.

I see more U-Hauls going east, by 3 to 1 going west, that should tell you something. Not to mention how many small business I have moved to AZ, UT, CO, Tx, and everyother state. When business' leave, there's yer sign

[arnold] Kallie-for-neeyaa[/arnold]

This is how I see it.

Urban areas are dominantly liberal because the people need the city to provide water, sanitation and protection.  City-folk are not self sufficient and feel better with laws which they feel protect them.

Rural areas are dominantly conservative because the people are self sufficient and do not want government meddling in their affairs.  Rural-folk do not need laws because they can and will defend themselves.

If the city-folk over-rule the rural-folk in the state legislature, the results are overly restrictive gun control laws (Kalifornia, NY, NJ).

If the rural-folk over-rule the city-folk, there is minimal gun control (Arizona, Alaska).

This makes for a very simple answer.  BURN THE CITIES!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Alaska

It is cold.

Expensive to live here.

Bears, moose, and and other critters that can kill you easily are abundant.

Roads are covered in Ice 6+ months out of the year.

Worst drivers.

Winters you have to drive slow because of road conditions, summers you drive slow because some fucktard in a $200,000 diesel pusher feels the need to drive 20 miles per hour below the speed limit because it might interrupt his cocktail party on the back deck of his land yacht to go any faster.  Either that or the roads are being (re)constructed because the for some reason the lowest bidder that did it last time's work has not survived 2 seasons due to the fact that they totally skimped on everything that it would take to make a durable driving surface.

I do make an exception for the DLI at the Presidio of Monterey. (I enjoyed the time I spent there - maybe because I was surrounded by other servicemen/women). Growing up, I lived in California for 9 years (San Dimas, Covina, W.Covina, Saratoga, Sacramento, Modesto, Carmel).
