Have you ever gotten what you wished for and ended up wishing you hadn't? The swing towards conservatism in national politics started off as a good thing by most of our (ARFCOM's) standard, But, things can go too far. When the Pilgrims left England, they did it to escape the persecutions they suffered in England for how and what they Believed. When they colonized in America, they became just as bad as the country they fled-anyone who believed differently than groupthink was burned at the stake as a witch.

Could this be where we are headed? Probably not as drastic an illustration as what happened with the Pilgrims, but having the inmates running the asylum can't be a great thing. We NEED the balancing power of a (minimum) two party leadership. I suppose that cyclical swings too far to the left and right are to be expected, but the SD action against Abortion is specifically what prompted me to write this thread. Are we as a nation prepared to give up the ability to control our bodies when it comes to Moral Issues? It could go farther than abortion-how about Pornogaphy, alcohol, tattoos, piercings, whatever. The Liberal Left was in power for 30 years before the "Conservative Revolution" in 1994, think how much damage can be done to your rights in 30 years.

All things in moderation fellas.. We don't have everything right as a society, but what we have Works, and pleases most of the people, most of the time.

Abortion is not birth control, it is murder.  Making abortin illegal is not taking control of a women's body, it is preserving the life of an unborn human being.

So, if conservatism has swung so far that we are now FINALLY beginning to reverse Roe then I can only say it is about time.

Maybe if we swing just a little further toward conservative heaven we can begin to execute pedophiles instead of putting them on the street after a few years, seal off our borders from the hoards, profile arabs in airports instead of 90 year old grandmothers, and back all the way out of the welfare state.  Who knows, a little more conservative swing and we might undo the GCA and be able to buy machine guns at Sears.  We can dream.

Guys, the issue here isn't abortion, it's living under a government that is operates under beliefs that are alien to you. Abortion just happened to be the thread that got to write the thread..

Where would ARFCOM be if the entire USA were a 'dry county'? Didn't work before, won't work again. Some people don't like being told how to live.
