I am applying for a US Passport and they ask for a form of ID like a certificate of US citizenship, would a photocopy do? Or do I need to send in the original? Thanks!

Yes - send in the original -- trust them, they are the government. They wouldn't lose your only documentary evidence of citizenship -- and then deport you -- would they ???

Just wait until they start on the bio-identity stuff - then you will have to send your right eyball in with the application.
