I don't see how the barrels rotate.   Oh, wait, they don't!

That's not a Gatling.  *THIS* is a Gatling:

If you have any very basic machining skills, give it about six months. . . .

Between working on Miniguns for a living, and just having read TR's journal from Cuba I really really really want a Gatling, but the 22 versions just dont cut it.  I want a fullsize one in 45-70!

This is the original manufacturer website

I think they also have 4 barrel models

Too bad the builder couldn't make room for a couple of 100 rd drum mags.

My dumbass questions of the morning continue

What's wrong with it?  Sure it is .22, but no tax stamp or paperwork, right?

Why not get one just to mess around with?  I think it'd be a blast.

What am I missing before I order one?  Help me out here, folks.

Bought one way back, when they first came out in the early `90s. The original manufacturer went
belly up, and these are being made by another, ISTR.

Unless this ones specs are any better than the original, it's a fun toy to make noise, sling lots of
lead, and horrify the anti's, (though those right there are reason enough if you have the $$), but
the sights are very rudimentary. I wasn't impressed with the way they went together, in that it had
quite a bit of 'play.'

I'd put it together, played with it for a while, then got bored and put it up. Then when the 'Assault Ban'
came along, it became a collectors item and I sold it for quite a bit more than what I paid for it.

I doubt that I'd bother having another, unless it was given to me. Now a REAL Gatling is a whole
different critter.....

Somebody at Gunco or Weaponeer made up a rig that is similar to the 10/22 format, in that they
are mounted sideways, and are drum-capable. I've seen pics, though not had a chance to see it in
person.

The AK "gatling" gun is pointless. You can't hit jack squat with them and you just butchered two AK's.

Tagging a very interesting topic.  I just happen to have a couple of extra AKs that I wouldn't mind turning into a twin rifle setup.

Does this guy have a website?

I think a handcranked 5.56x45, 7.62x39, or 7.62 nato gatlin mounted on the back of of pickup would be sweet.

With the new Stang left-handed uppers and a right-handed upper you could make a sweet dual gatling gun.

I will take a hand crank Gatling gun in 38spec/357mag or 9mm please. That will be cheap to shoot and still have a little ump when firing.

i think it is quite cheezy.

sort of like a well organized form of bump firing.

or glorified tri-burst gizmo

but, the answer to your question is always -

SHOULD

I was thinking( first time this year) wouldn't it be cool to have a hand crank pistol? Or how about a 50 cal BMG round gattling gun on wheels? I can see how i would be occupying my time if I won the lottery.

One thing I don't get is, this is not at all difficult to make at home.  The Cabela's link prices it at $400, which is about $350 too much IMHO.

The "tripod" doesn't need to be fancy;  a heavy-duty camera tripod would be better than the one shown, or roll your own out of four lengths of pipe.  The mount just needs to clamp two 10/22's into place;  a few chunks of bar and channel stock from OnlineMetals.com would run you maybe $20 including UPS shipping.  You can get a crank handle like that out of an industrial supply catalog for ten or twenty bucks, and the trigger-bumping rod is trivial.

Bolt the channel stock and bar stock together, drill and tap a hole to mount it onto the tripod, set up the trigger wiggler, and you've just saved enough to buy at least one of the 10/22's that you need.  Maybe even both of them and some ammo if you get the base models (not sure what they cost any more).

I mean, hell, my machining skills are barely above "beginning hobbyist", and I've made things far more complicated than that.
