What surprised me is that the two anaestheliogists who were assisting in the procedure waited until it was time to do it, and then had a change of heart. What the heck is that?!! I wasn't commenting on the entire history of capital punishment. Just this particular one and it just so happened in CA this time. This piece of shit got convicted over 23 years ago and some bleeding heart assholes are worried he may have a moment of discomfort before he dies. I doubt he had the same compassion for his victim.

Nor should they be doing abortions but one doesn't justify the other.

Bottom line is all of this will just bring back other forms of capital punishment. The gas chamber would suck.

This decision isn't all bad. In prison, child molesters are the lowest form of scum, and the other inmates will definitely make life miserable for this guy. So instead of a peaceful, painless "just drop off to sleep" death, he can look forward an unrelenting non-stop series of brutal beatings and ass rapings at the hands of some very big, mean, ugly felons for the rest of his Life-Without-the-Possiblity-of-Parole.

So you see, there is an upside to this.

He's not "off", he's still condemned to die.

But the state has executed only 13 or so since reinstating the DP. People on Death Row are far more likely to die of natural causes than to be executed.

No, the objective here is to make the courts rule that ANY execution is cruel and unusual, and this is another step in that direction.

It is trying to force a society where this murdering piece of shit has more legal protection than an innocent child, who has no shortage of willing exeuctioners.

I'm no expert on prison matters, but I would guess this guy is kept separated from the general prison population. I'm sure it varies from state to state, but it wouldn't surprise me.

It may be a fine line but it is one I am unwilling to cross, nor do I think other docs should. Doctors should not be involved in killing people. Not abortion, not capital punishment, not euthanasia.

It was one federal judge, Jeremy Fogel, a Clinton appointee.

Morales had already lost appeals in the 9th Circuit, the CA Supreme Court, and with the governor.

The execution is postponed, there was no clemency. It could still go forward when this is sorted out in the courts.

And speaking of clemency, no death row inmate in California has been granted clemency since 1967.

But since 1976, 229 death row inmates in twenty other states have been granted clemency for humanitarian reasons, which include doubts about the defendant's guilt or conclusions of the governor regarding the death penalty process.

If you really want to be technical an anti-death penalty Oregon judge ruled that a doctor has to be present during the lethal injection and they execution has been delayed. In the United States when you say someone get's off for a crime it means that they go free ... not have their execution delayed until May.

It is supposed to hurt and then kill him.

If anybody needs any ideas, here are a few. Let's pour gasoline over his head and light it. Let's shoot him up the ass and let him bleed to death.
