The ROP got ROPed. BBC:

it contains the 10th and 11th imams tombs inside the mosque, that is why they are freaking out. im sure the sunnis and shites civil war is going explode after this. expect alot more after this.
Wouldn't be surprised if AQ didn't blow it up, just to kept the pot boiling.
That would be my best guess |
+1. Although I would be much happier if it had happened at the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. Those fuckers built a mosque at the site of the Jewish Temples. And they talk about us insulting THEIR religion.... |
I wonder how the islamic world is going to handle this one. |
Naturally, the most evil people in the Islamofacsist movement are attempting to freak up the Islamic "street" - There is a civil war inside their religion that the weaker, nicer, more reasonable side is losing.
The IF will do anything they can to accelerate this process. Considering that we are at most a month away from blowing Iran to hell (anybody hear about Gen. Tom McInerny's two-hour brief on what we are gonna hit?), you guys may be witnessing the beginning of the SHTF time in the Middle East. Hopefully, they haven't been sneaking any WMD across our porous borders in the last five years. That would REALLY stir up the shit. |
By saying Israel did it. |

Dizam!
That was no small bomb... Bet ya that EVERYBODY in that place got smoked. |
Yeah, and I'll bet that Al-Jazeera is planning on blaming it on us. |
Ive seen nothing on the networks...
Where are you seeing this? |
Wow , a society that only ever known rule by force and violence
is still using the same tactics after we gave them the chance to change .... Well , I'm shocked |
I would not be surprised to see Muslims start making death threats, hitting targets and seeking retaliation all in the name of this temple and blaming the west the whole time. Then next week we found it collapsed becuase of weakness in the supports or something.
Oh fuck! Well, at least it didn't contain the tombs of the 7th, 5th, or 12th Imams. That'd cause some REAL shit. |
Nope, they've confirmed 5 or 6 guys in Iraqi Police squad uniforms stormed inside and made a big 'pop'.
Looks like it didn't just collapse the dome--it completely blew the tile and inlay work off the walls and columns. They should be proud. They've destroyed a priceless historical landmark and timeless work of art over a fucking book and the 'right' invisible friend in the sky. |
Who give a shit about that fucking building-3 US soldiers were killed this weekend. That's all I give a damn about.
Woops, trouble is brewing, I'm sure that the blame will be on the US one way or another.
Its not like the 10th and 11th imans werent dead already.

The 10th and 11th Imams are reputed to be the direct decendents of the Prophet Mohammed... methinks this could result in the SHTF. ANdy |

Iraqi blast damages Shia shrine A bomb attack in Iraq has badly damaged one of Shia Islam's holiest shrines, sparking large demonstrations outside. The blast happened early in the morning at the al-Askari shrine in Samarra, 90km (60 miles) north of Baghdad. Two armed men overcame the guards before detonating explosives. The top part of the building's celebrated golden dome has been destroyed. The shrine contains the tombs of two revered Shia imams and attracts pilgrims from all over the world. The BBC's Jon Brain in Baghdad says the attack was almost certainly designed to raise the existing tensions between the majority Shia and minority Sunni populations. There were no reports of injuries in the attack, but thousands of people have gathered outside in protest. Holy site The al-Askari shrine, part of the Imam Ali al-Hadi mausoleum, is one of Shia Islam's holiest sites. The compound contains the remains of the 10th and 11th imams, reputed to be direct descendants of the Prophet Muhammad. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which came one day after a visit to Iraq by UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw. He urged Iraq's divided political groups to put aside sectarian differences and quickly form a new national government. =================== interesting that there were no injuries. |

Al-Qaeda hates Shiites just slightly less than they hate Americans and Jews. They frequently attack Shiites in Pakistan, Shiites are an oppressed minority in Saudi Arabia. |
If they are smart enough to realize it was AQ that blew the bomb, this could really give us some support against them.
