IS there any way to unlock or uncripple a Verizon LG phone

Try this website for the specifics on your particular phone.  If no one has addressed the unlock for it I'd be very surprised.

www.howardforums.com/

If you can't find what you need there, post a question and someone will be able to tell you who or how to get your phone unlocked if it's possible.

Nokia's are easy.  Do what INI suggested.  You can probably even google it in quotes (the filename).

Just got a Motorola V600 unlocked to take overseas with me. Bought a SIM card with minutes from T-Mobile for my US phone number. They have a prepaid deal here in the US for 1000 minutes for $100 and that gives you a year of service. Perfect for me. Had to send in my Motorola but many can
be unlocked with just a few simple keystrokes. I recommend The TravelInsider website. Mailed my phone in and had it back within a week. Great service and they take Paypal.
Read the FAQs at this website or Google "cell phone unlock".

The Nokia 6061 is not listed there and how can I tell what network it is locked to?

not sure if this was answered above yet.

A couple other things to try.  Some phone come with the lock already set from your carrier.  Tyr these numbers to start

Lock code 1234
Lock Code "the last four digits of your cell #"
Lock Code  "the last four digits of your SS number"

other than that - good luck.  Once you get the phone to stay unloakced - go to your setting and change it non-locink automatic etc.

You can find out what it's locked to by a) asking the person who you bought it from, or b) guess.

Nokia's website says it's sold by either Cingular or Immix.  Cingular, being larger, is a better bet.

*edit* BTW it did work on my GF's 6101.  She's been using it for months with AT&T after I bought it from Tmobile.

the only one is "CINGULAR pacific bell wireless"

Can someone explain locked and unlocked with regard to cell phones?

Simply, I have a phone from Tmobile (GSM Phones have SIM cards).  If I give it to my girlfriend who has AT&T/Cingular it won't work unless it's unlocked.  It has to have a Tmobile SIM in it.

basically its locked to a certain service provider... and if using Verizon, they will restrict many features like OBEX through BlueTooth... but there are hacks/seams you can use to "fix" and enable some locked features on some Verizon phones...

1234
12345
0000
00000
Last 4 digits of phone number
Last 5 digtis of phone number
