Ive never been asked for a DL to hold a weapon in a store.

Very frequently in Maryland you must have your DL to touch a gun.

Not odd at all, The Gun Store on Trop is a tourist store, almost eveyone that goes there is from Cali. Try a "locals" store.

Is this the place that is pretty far off the strip that has the machine gun range?
If so I am from VA and they let me. Hell I shot an MP5, Thompson, UZi all kinds of good stuff (it did cost about $200 but it was worth it).

I've only been in one store but wasn't asked for my DL to handle one. I touched an AR-15, SIG 226, HK USP 40, and a Taurus 24/7 with my bare hands.

Depends on how you come across. How young do you look? Could be just an age check thing.
I'm in NY, but I've never had to show ID. I think they CAN demand that you have a permit here, but I've never been asked. |

I lived there my whole life until 2 years ago when I broke free. It maybe a regonal thing, and was only recent, I lived in Monkey County. The last year I lived there, every store I went to required me to put my license on the table before I could handle somthing. |

Tell them you don't have a driver's liscense but you do have a liscense to kill.

I have been to a local pawn shop that does this.
It seems that several months ago some guy walks in and asks to see a gun. They hand it to them and he just walks right out the door and got in his car and drove off. In TN it would have been illegal for anyone at the store to just shoot him. He turned his back, was not a threat and the employees knew the gun was unloaded. By handing them your DL they at least know who you are and where you live in case someone does this again. |

No kidding! Without a Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOID) you can't even buy ammo, much less handle a firearm. I will leave this state someday.
