I just drove in from Atlanta and ran across a station carrying the Forbes Radio Magazine. There was a guy on there talking about Mexico. He stated that he read a study that claims that 36% of Mexicos' workforce is now in the U.S.! Over 1/3 of their workforce?

Anybody think that figure is viable?

yes

were are a prime source of income for mexico (illegals working here and sending money back home)

we are also the reason their unemployment rate isn't sky high.

Judging soley based on how hard Mexico is fighting to keep the border wide open, I'd say it isn't far off.

They are completely scared shitless about the loss of all those $$$ coming in from the illegals working in the states.

So what can we do to help them develop their economy so all those folks can go home and work?

Build a wall and deport them.

Send more American Businesses there.

Buy their oil.

kick out all the illegals so they have to fix their own problems instead of running here.

Seriously, they have an inept, corrupt government that only survives by pawning their problems off on the US.  If the illegal job market were eliminated in the US and mexico was faced with the cold hard reality of their situation, they'd be forced to change.

Of course, the thought of this scares the crap out of their leaders, which is why the oppose any thought of controlling illegal immigration.

My simple solution to the illegal problem is tighter controls on doing a wire transfer overseas. Ie: If you ain't got a bank account, you can't wire money, you gotta have a SSN or worker ID # to do it. Western Union would bitch, but screw 'em.

Saw someplace the like one of the top three sources of income is money sent from workers in the US. We are propping up Mexico.
