Say for example a round about .50 caliber, 300 gr lead free frangible projectile with a muzzle velocity of 2,182 FPS and 3,145 ft. lbs. of energy. Would you consider that to be a man stopper?

as long as it penetrate 12"+

most frangible pistol ammo does not, however.

there's a tacked thread discussing it in the ammo forum.

Sounds like you need to send some ammo to Dr Roberts or Old Painless...

Not after shooting it through car window glass.

I saw it done myself.

Turns into rat shot quick.

Not a .50 cal.....Granted....

I'd hate to stake my life on it taking down a BG.

Car Glass?

Nah....I'm just wondering about using big bore ARs for home defense.

All of the big bore AR's (.50 Beowulf, .458 SOCOM, .499 L-W) are supposed to be able to shoot through a brick wall and kill whatevers on the other side of it. I wonder if the frangible stuff can kill a bad guy in the living room without punching through the exterior walls of your house.

Not to hijack the thread, but where can you get the frangible ammo that is acceptable at indoor ranges?

My indoor range charges $29.00 a box for 50 rounds of .223 to use at their range. I pay it, but DANG!!!  Anyone know where to get the cheap stuff?????
