I sold a 30 round mag to a member on the EE a few days ago. He didn't tell me at the time that he lived in MA. I received his payment today, along with a MA address to ship to. I think it is illegal to ship hi-caps to MA, and if so I will refund his money instead of sending the mag.

Anyone know for sure?

You don't have any pre-bans you can grace him with?

Everything is illegal in the Socialist State of Massachusettes.  Just take a look at the huge sign on the Mass Turnpike just outside of Logan airport!

Depends on whether or not it is a pre-ban mag,but that law is only for posession by a MA resident.

Either way,you don't have anything to worry about..It is ILLEGAL TO POSSES a post ban mag ,but NOT ILLEGAL TO SELL post ban mags(Stupid, yes I know)Every gun show here in MA has post ban mags for sale,so it's basically buyer beware.Granted, the only place you CAN buy post ban mags is from a gunshow, you won't find them in any gunshops around here.

To posses a high cap pre-ban mag in the state of MA,you have to have a CLASS A license. Most likely the person you sold the mags to has the proper license. If you want to make sure, have the buyer fax a copy of his CLASS A LTC to you before you ship.

I have had pre-ban mags shipped to me a few times from out of state.

Good info.

However, I'm pretty sure that you can't send any magazines or ammunition in the mail to MA. No matter what capacity.

I'll do a quick search.

Cheers.

Last I checked, Fat Ass Teddy was still shitting on us.

As already stated, the '94 AWB never set here.  So its either Pre-Ban or Post-Ban.  Though the only person that can get in trouble is the buyer.  Just besure to let us poor fellows in MA know if your selling a Pre-Ban or Post/No-Ban item.

What's a "hi-cap"?

Is it some kind of new hat?

You're welcome.  I really mean that too.

Additionally, shipping aside, MA residents can't physically buy hi cap mags out of state and bring them back IN state either unless you're a Class A resident and the mag is preban.  I've been in the Kittery Trading Post before and seen some these issues come to head.

This realy only applies to Online dealers shipping stuff here.  The AG got mad because they wern't checking if the people they were sending stff to had an LTC-A.  There is no law(?) saying they need too, but the AG went after them anyway.

Mass Gun Laws

Page 4, middle column. The way I read it, you must physically present your LTC-A to buy ammunition and mags from someone. I'm not a attorney, so if anyone else can give a definitive answer, please chime in.

Don't get me wrong, all our MA unlaws are BS. Just providing info.

Personally, loopholes are great. And I hope you can supply a MA resident with that mag.

Cheers.

it'd be nice if it was a mode of transaction thing.... ie a 'gift' vs a 'sale'

Damn Hokie, that's kinda harsh considering there was a nationwide AWB not too long ago.

ETA:Actually, even if we didn't have a AWB,this place still would be a shithole state as long as Kennedy and Kerry are still around...

Carry on

Come ON guys don't take it personally, it ain't you Arfcommers....it's the socialistic government and ridiculous traffic situation.  If it weren't for those two things, heck I'd consider passing through there once in awhile!

I don't let this out much, but I was born in Mass.

You should thank your lucky stars for the Missouri Compromise my friend.  Maine WAS part of Massechussetts up until then!

Last couple times I drove over the MA border on the interstate they had big signs warning people about their gun laws and how you aren't supposed to bring guns in without the proper paperwork...

Considering their terrible crime problems in Boston though, they must not have put up enough signs... hmmmm
