bitchin cool, and bitchin fast, except when one of the outboard J-79's unstarts at Mach 3 and you have to scour three states to find all the pieces.

Nice pic Noname. I'd like to have a nickle for every gallon of kerosene they ran thru those afterburning J79's!

My father flew B47, B52, C130 and B58.  The B58 was his favorite by far and he makes it to the reunions most times.  Beautiful airplane!

Geez, that's like 80% engine and 20% airplane.

Good gawd thats a beautiful airplane.  Too bad it had such a short time in service.  I wish the B-36 had stayed around longer as well, just for the hugeness of it.........then there is the XB-70, definitely the sexiest bomber never to make production.

Max speed was closer to mach 2.

Always thought THAT was what a jet is supposed to look like.

Here’s one that isn’t doing so well (looks like it could be restored to a decent display model pretty easily, though):

I always thought it was one of the coolest looking planes we have had. F4 phantom, P51, F14, and Corsair, and the Hustler, just look like what a badass fighter/bomber should look like,..... classic, it's ashamed to see a great plane in the graveyard. When I was younger, the 117 recon wing, was located not to far from my  house, I miss seeing the F4s flying over. When photos of Tomcats sitting in the desert come out, I won't be able to look..........Has anyone ever been to the boneyard, where all the decomissioned planes are? Do they let civi's tour it? I always thought it would be a cool place to go, but sad at the same time.

Why don't we see if the Navy will allow us to do a group buy on F14s? If the price were right, I would be in for one. Someone get to work on it, I know somebody here has connections. LOL

I have seen a B1B take off with full afterburners, but unfortunately have never gotten to see a Hustler do it.
