A football site I frequent banned a bunch of ISPs right after the super bowl. Mine was banned along with the rest as a "dragnet" tactic the administrators used to clear out the trolls. I read that in an annoncment post before they did it. They said a few good guys will get the boot but it's for the best.
How socialist of them.
Anyway, I can't even access the site anymore to get an email addy to get reinstated.
Any way to change or mask your ISP ?

One other thing.
Is there a firewall or something similar that I could buy and install that would do the same thing ?

Not directly. You can set your browser up to point at an external web proxy, but you can't do anything without having access to an external network.

The problem is that as long as the requests are coming from your ISPs network, they will block you. You need the proxy so that the requests come from someone elses network and are forwarded back to you.

One small detail: A bunch of open proxies are that way because of poor administration. If you route traffic across their site and do not have explicit permission to do so, you can be charged with theft of services.

Much like returning to a site after you were IP banned…

Theft of services is not a charge to scoff at. One simple cease and desist letter to your ISP and they will close your account. If they decide to pursue federal charges, you could be looking at a felony.

Just FYI because you sound like you have no clue what you are about to undertake.

Yes there is - Steganos Internet Anonimity. Basically it's an automated proxy manager that updates it's list of free open proxies and will automatically switch them at user defined intervals so it looks like you're hopping all over the world.
