My combustion gun runs just a hair over 200 fps.  My dad's pnuematic acorn gun (.75 bore) runs close to 600 fps.

There's a guy around here they call "potato head" because he let someone shoot him in the head with a potato gun. At least he had a brain cell that said put on a motorcycle helmet first.

It cracked the helmet, would have killed him.

My pneumatic 50 cal (.625 cal actually, 1/2" pvc barrel) with the 1.5" over-jacket air chamber runs 800 fps with lightweight ammo, closer to 500 with something a little heavier.

I have a design for one much bigger and more powerful, utilizing dual air chambers and interchangable barrels (so one can put a 20" barrel on there to really utilize the extra air). I forgot what the muzzle velocity was supposed to be theoretically, but I figured up the range of a 1 ounce projectile to be around 1200 yards or better, and the range of a 2 ounce (which happens to be a C cell battery weight, which happens to fit in a 1" barrel just about perfectly) to be around 800 yards. Of course, I can't afford to actually build it unfortunately. Maybe thats good. By the time I can afford it maybe I'll have engineered a super valve that'll best utilize the air pressure.

Darwin at work there.

Hopefully, that well placed spud will keep that dumbass from being able to contribute to the gene pool.
