I hope Florida's 10-20-Life law doesn't screw this guy up, sounds like this guy was pissed because of unwanted advances on his wife.

A Martin County firefighter with a recent disorderly conduct arrest was arrested on aggravated assault charges early Monday after allegedly shooting a gun when a man made sexual advances on his wife.

Thomas Reinis, 47, was drinking with his wife and two other people at his home on Southwest North Quick Circle in Port St. Lucie just after midnight when he allegedly chased a guest out of his home with a shotgun and began firing.

The incident report said his wife, 41-year-old Penny Reinis, told police that her husband was shooting at the ground to get rid of Steven Riske, 34, because he was making advances toward her.

No one was injured, and the report said the three shotgun shells "looked consistent with shots being fired into the ground."

Martin County Fire Rescue Chief Thomas Billington said Thomas Reinis is on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.

He said Reinis has worked for more than 24 years as a paid firefighter, with an additional six years as a volunteer.

Reinis consistently gets good evaluations, he said.

"Twenty-four and a half years into it, to have some issue arise, it's concerning," Billington said.

Reinis had another run-in Jan. 5 when he was arrested on a disorderly intoxication charge at the Body Talk Lounge in Port St. Lucie.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office offense report, Reinis was cursing at lounge employees and the arresting officer. He then allegedly refused to leave the parking lot, drawing a crowd.

Monday morning, Reinis was allegedly belligerent again.

The victim, Riske, was too intoxicated to give a complete written statement, the report noted.

Police tried to speak with the other man at the party, but the report said he was intoxicated to the point of being unable to speak.

When police asked the man about two cuts on his face, he said he got them while practicing kung fu in the house.

The report said Reinis told officers that he had "dropped the ball," but he never pointed the gun at Riske.

Reinis was taken to the St. Lucie Medical Center until his blood-alcohol level dropped. He then was taken to the St. Lucie County jail, where he was released later Monday on a $2,500 bond.
