February 14, 2006 Nissan has released more details of the large and imposing Terranaut which we
previewed with design sketches a fortnight ago. The Terranaut is a mobile science laboratory, billed by Nissan as earth’s equivalent of a lunar rover, protecting its occupants from the environment so they can become part of it. Created by London-based Nissan Design Europe, the overriding theme behind the concept is one of function. Satellite information systems allow data access and transfer all over the planet. Terranaut has enough refrigerated storage space to house food, water and other provisions for a week in the field. Lightweight tents, sleeping bags built for extreme conditions and cooking facilities are ingenious built into storage compartments in the doors.

replace the dish on top with dual mounted .50's.

And have the chair / display rotate with the gun, like in star wars.

Then we'll talk!

Yeah, serious BOV. If you are a survivor from the recently crashed NCC1701 Enterprise. My BOV is a 1980 Volkswagen pickup with a mechanical fuel shut off that can be driven on fuel from fry grease to Jet A with no electrical system left from the EMP. Space for crap in the back and simple all around.

C'mon, you can't have a BOV without a wrap-around plasma display.

I think it actually looks a lot like a Land Rover LR3.

Not even close.  Go look at the Jeep concept Hurricane and Gladiator.  You'll throw rocks at that George Jetson Clown Car.

Actually, with the dish, it looks like the first kind of Millenium Falcon for terra firma!

The bug-out vehicle title was just a lil' sarcasm, by no means do I think this buggy is the next uber-assault vehicle.  I just thought it was an interesting concept like the Gladiator. The worst part of the article is it never actually mentions what kind of off-road capabilities it has like lockers, winch, etc.

What's so cool about either of those cars? The Hurricane is just a dune buggy that can spin in circles and the Gladiator is a Jeep truck.

Neither one has a computerized command console or a dome sunroof on top!
